There are some cats that have cronic Upper Respitory Infections. They will constantly sneeze and green boogery snot will be expelled. If its a mild case then you can have the vet prescribe you an inexpensive antibiotic like Ammoxocillin or something more stronger. In some cases these cats that get it often will have a life long cronic condition of sneezing. Usually due to being exposed to Distemper at an early age and actually making it through. if this is the first time you have seen it since owning the cat chances are that its just a Upper Resp. infection. Allergies in cats usually show themselves diffrently than a green snot, they might sneeze but the mucous is not green or thick... That is usually a sign of a respitory disease. Does he get crusty eye boogers too? I would take him ASAP to the vet and get him on meds, if you have other cats they will likely have it too if they dont show signs they will shortly. Its very contagious to other cats.

First, YES, the cat needs to see a vet for proper medications for his illness. The cat is sick perhaps with upper respiratory infection and needs antibiotics. Take kitty to the vet ASAP.

Second, you can help ease the congestion in the following way: Turn the hot shower on in the bathroom to make the room very steamy. Sit in the bathroom with your cat on your lap (NOT under the shower!) for 10 mins or so. The steam will help decongest the cat's airways. Do this whenever the cat seems very congested.

Time for a vet visit. The cat may need antibiotics or help clearing out the congestion. Hope the cat feels better. Good luck

You need to take the cat to a vet now. It could be something serious like a URI. When cats get allergies its generally just a skin reaction. Call your vet now.

A kitten that I got for my nieces and nephew had this problem. I took her to the vet and she ended up having an upper respiratory infection. She received antibiotics. Take your cat to the vet......that is the best bet!

I would recommend you take him to the vet. It could be as simple as allergies, or as serious as the feline version of herpes (expresses itself as respiratory problems) - which can be fatal if not looked after properly. I hope it's just allergies! Good luck to ya and feel better kitty!

I would say exactly what the other people have said but I won't because you don't really want to repete other peoples answers but what I would add is if your cats nse is all snotty, wipe it with really soft but strong tissue (don't want clumps of tissue to fall off now do we!) Do this because otherwise your cat can get irritated.
