We have the most loving, person oriented cat possible. We've both had other cats but this cat is the best cat either of us have ever had. He is a little over 2 years old, neutered, orange tabby. 98% of the time, he is just a big purr ball of love. However every once in a while he seems to freak out and attack my wife - lunge at her and bite her. He never does that to me. His attacks do not correspond to my wife's monthly cycle in any way. Yet we wonder if because he never attacks me, is this some kind of male/female issue? The only semi-frequent repetitive condition we can tie to these attacks seems to be when she is trying to discipline him and tells him "NO". (Even this frequency is less than 50%.) Sometimes he acts bored and like he doesn't get played with enough. Otherwise, he's a happy cat. Anybody out there - owners or trainers - have any idea on why he attacks her or suggestions on how to handle the situation?

My cat is fighting for his life tonight, they think he has a virus. He's 3 yrs old and a big boy (10+ pounds)

What are his chances of beating this fever? They gave him antibiotics and something under his skin to rehydrate him. Has anyone ever had a cat with such a high fever? He's only been unwell 3 days tops. I am thinking if he makes it through the night he'll probably be ok, but even the Vet said he wasn't sure he'd make it.....

(Please pray for our beloved Dottie)

Everytime someone flushes the toilet, he makes a beeline for the bathroom so that he can watch the toilet water flush. Why???

My cat is 18. She hasn't cleaned herself in about 2 months. She has lost lots of weight and sometimes she looks unwell. However, she still eats (just barfs a lot afterwards) and walks around and seeks affection and otherwise acts like a normal cat. Mentally she has changed her personality though. She meows and whines for food almost constantly when she's awake. I had her on thyroid medication according the the vet she had hyperthyroid, but even at the highest dose, her meowing and constant whining is becoming worse. I'v never heard of a cat like this before. She only turned into this within the last few months. It's so hard to decide what to do, when my friends and family see her, they think it's "time" but how do you make that decision?

I resuced a 4 1/2 week old kitten after her nother quit feeding her. I nursed her back to health and now she is fine, but, she sucks on my arms and clothes. She doesn't lick, it is like she is sucking on a pacifier is there anything to do about this? Do I need to be concerned about this and how do I get her to stop?

In the late evening, he is usually up playing with my dog and with me and generally being active. Tonight, he's been sleeping and ignoring all attempts to get him to play- he won't even get up for his favorite treats! Should I be worried?

My cat purrs and sucks on my shirt when he is happy and cuddling, does anyone elses cat do this??? Is this normal behavior? Hes going to be 9 yrs old and has been doing it since he was a kitten. Does it mean that he was taken away from his mom too soon?

I got a puppy about a month ago and I already had a year old cat. When we first brought the puppy home she and the cat got along really well and the cat loved on the puppy and even cleaned her face on occasion. Now, a month later, the puppy keeps pouncing the cat and tugging on her ears and biting her face, chewing her tail, and chasing her around. Is this just the puppy's way of playing and that cat's is tamer or is the puppy really trying to hurt the cat? If so, what can I do to help them get along better?

My cat has not been herself for a week. Past 3 days she has not been eating. She has lost alot of weight in the past week.
Took her to the vet today, did tests and blood work. They gave her sub Q fluids and sent me home with Clavamox. Vet called tonight and said her white blood count was sky rocketed. I cant remember if she said 5100 or 51,000...but it was real high, which means she has some sort of real bad infection, but they don't know what or where.
She did eat a bit tonight (warmed canned food), but I am worried about her. Vet said if she isnt any better, they may need to up the strength of the meds and possibly hospitilize her to give her more fluids.
What can I do to help her pull through? She was out a little bit today, and only ate maybe 1/4 of a small can of food. But it is more than she has eaten in 3 days. I just dont want to wake up to a dead cat in the AM, and I also don't want to have her hospitalized if I can nurse her back at home.

My 1 year old cat was just Spayed today. How can I make her comfy and keep her from pulling at her stitches?
FYI - I had an appointment to spay her in April but when my Landlord came to fix a water leak in my apartment, the idiot forgot to shut the door all the way and she got (Was just starting her first heat cycle) Well she came home 3 weeks later but was pregnant. Very suprised but happy to have 4 crazy and adorable kittens. Well they are now weaned and I was able to get her spayed today (I cried leaving her there since it took me over 8 months to get her to trust me (she was a older feral kitten)) She is now constatly grooming her whole body and tugging at her stiches now (not to hard) The poor little girl hurts too but the vet said she does not need pain meds at home. When she walks (I tried to keep her separated but she cried for her babies (such a good Mommy)) she is hunched over. Any Advice...

I am trying to determine the normal pee to poo ratio for cats. I have a himalayan and I clean his litter every day. The vet says to watch; he doesn't have a urinary tract infection, but I have noticed a 4:1 ratio or 3:1 on a daily basis. I watch him and listen, he seems to be happy and healthy; no straining or marking/spraying. However, I am not here ALL the time. Just wondering from one newer cat/pet owner/lover to the veterans out there...Thanks in advance!
