Yes. Your cat sounds like he was not properly weaned from his mom. I got a kitten 11yrs ago, and when she cuddles she still does the purring and suckling. It's perfectly fine, as long as you don't mind the wet spot they leave behind.

its normal. My cat sucked on my fingers up until she had her own babies and then stopped. I had to bottle feed her when I found her, she was taken so young and stray. My mom's cat does that. He is about a year and a 1/2 and I found him and his brother in my back yard when they were babies. He sucks on a throw blanket. I wouldnt worry to much about it. The kitty probably looks at you as its Mama which is kinda cool also. Cats do weird things. My girl kitten saw her brother spray the wall once and ever since then (she is 9 now) she shakes her butt at that wall like she is spraying also, she isnt, she doesnt know what she is doing. They are like kids.

Normally when a cat or kitten does this it is his or her way of saying they feel very comfortable with you and your nurturing and safe for them.
You must have a very good relationship with your cat--he really trusts you and that is why he likes to suck on your shirt. It's his affirmation of love for you.
He wasn't taken from his Mom too soon, you are his Mom!!

I have a cat who does basically the same thing. She sucks on the blanket on the bed and destroys it, pulling all the threads out. I always suspected that she was weaned too soon and it sounds like most of you agree. It's annoying always having to buy new blankets for my bed, but she's so cute, how can I be mad?
Did I mention she'll also eat anything (like a plastic bra strap, chewed through the cord on the Christmas lights, string, etc)? I have to watch out for her or she'll hurt herself one of these days.
Ah, the joy of cats!! :)

yes my cat does this too. I think it is because they were taken from their mom too soon. It hurts kittens and even when cats they miss their mom subconsciously. My cat used to do it for all the rest of his life.
They feel so good and relaxed with you, they seem to go back in time, imagining themselves kittens lying by their mom.
I think it's sweet :)

Cats will do this if they were weened too soon so seeing you as their mommy they like to immitate sucking on your shirt to make them feel loved by their mommy. Its perfectly normal behavior for most cats so enjoy it while you can.

I have heard that this is a sign they've been taken away from their mama too soon. I've known several cats do it, I don't think it's anything to worry about.

specific, it is commonplace. I even have ordinary a selection of of cats that enjoyed to suck on pores and skin or human-smelling gadgets (arms and ear lobes and shirts are all ordinary substitutes for an obtrusive nipple fixation). i've got additionally seen cats attempting to nurse on (woman and male) canines who have been their sturdy pals. it extremely is in all probability simply by an attachment to you as a mom parent. I additionally as quickly as knew a cat who nursed her very own kittens until they have been 11 months old... even after she were spayed. So evidently that it extremely is a uncomplicated bonding habit. additionally, do no longer believe those people who're attempting to make you think of that there is something ordinary approximately you for no longer punishing your cat for this. i'm specific which you like your cat purely as she loves you... nursing behaviors -- and suckling behaviors -- are no longer inevitably sexual or perverse. in case you prefer to deter it, of course, you would be satisfied. On a correct subject depend, historical Greek sources record that woman worshippers of Dionysus have been ordinary for permitting cats (and different wild animals) to suck on their nipples. they are many times shown wearing observed cats (that are many times pointed out as leopard cubs).... so this custom quite does have a protracted and honorable history. Who is conscious, perhaps your cat recollects that and is encouraging you to upward thrust up and revel in wild dancing and eating events.
