You can put aluminum foil around the base of the plant and they won't lay there anymore. Cats don't like the feel of the aluminum foil on their paws. Eventually, this will deter them away and you can remove the aluminum foil. You can either remove it when watering the plants or poke holes in it for the water to run through.

Cats like to be in enclosed places because it gives them a feeling of safety. You know, they have their backs covered. Why don't you try one of those little cubes that are made for cats so it has a place to curl up in? Maybe, then, they will spend less time in your houseplants.

Well as far as I can guess your cats need a cooler place and that's what up.
The place you have kept then is hot for them and as a good substitute they are using your plants as a nice and comfortable place to lie in.
Try to make the place they are kept in cooler and comfortable try changing the location of the place and for a little time give them food near it to make them familiar with the location.
They might stop visiting your plants so frequently then.
Good luck.

Take a couple of paper towels and pour a little vinegar on them and put them around the plants. They don't like the smell.
That's what we have to do to keep our cats away from the Christmas tree.

My cat used to do the same. If your cats aren't hurting the plants then no problem! Alternatively I once read that hanging orange peel around the plants was a deterrent. Try it and see.

they make a product that repels cats from objects. It is harmless to them. I use it for my garbage cans and certain things I dont want them around. It is called GRANTS dog and cat repellent. Maybe it will work. There is nothing like a good old fashion swat on the butt though.

Just have Venus Fly Traps in your house instead of houseplants.Every time your cat tries to do his business He'll get bit in the privates by the plant. That should cure him. No one likes to get bit in the "nads".
