I have a very nice one-year-old cat. Last time we went to the vet, she was very easy to get into the carrier because she was sick. Now that she's better, how early should I start trying to get her into the carrier? The receptionist said they want to get a urine sample there, so I should crate her early so she can't use the litter box -- otherwise we'd be at the vet's for a while waiting for her to pee. Two hours seems like a long time to put my poor kitty in a carrier. From experience, what do you recommend? Thanks in advance!

theres a stray cat that i have been feeding for the past 2 weeks, she looked fine when i first fed her, she's pregnant i think so i felt bad for her, anyway the other day she had a big bump some of the side of her eye was it looked swollen and she could barely open her eye but i went down in like 3 days so i figured she got stung by a bee, but now she has like the side of face swollen and her eye looks weird, and a bit watery...i tried to get a closer look at it but she wouldnt let me, what could be wrong with her i feel awful and im trying to get her so i can take her to the vet but she wont let me, i know its not the food im feeding her because i have 3 cats and i give her the same food i give them...what should i do, does anyone know whats wrong with her?

I'm having trust issues with Veterinary's.

Last night, my Tonkanese started howling, then was panting like crazy. We took him to an after hours veternary. They put him on oxygen and diagnosed him with a possible 'Saddle Thrombus' which is most likly TERMINAL .

We opt to take him home against vet's recomendation of Euthinatia ... he gets a shot of morphine and we take him home, pray, and read him poems ... this mourning, PRAISE BE JESUS, he's walking, eatting, pooping ... Is this a mirricale or bad diagnosis from veternaryian?

So, I call his local vet, and they're amazed that he's walking, let alone roaming about the house (they got a fax from emergency vet) ... Well, both say "Saddle Thrombus" is a common trait in Tonkanese cats ... he could have bad heart, clott, or instead of "Saddle Thrombus", he could have "Nerve Trama" from jumping / landing wrong way.

Ahh ... don't know if it's a mirrical he's alive today, or if vet's are all morrons ...

I definitely know I have a short hair kitten but I still have a question regarding it's fur. Does it continue to grow it's whole life and it will become a psuedo-long haired or medium hair as it gets older. The reason I ask is weather or not I need to invest in a shaving kit for the kitten. Thanks.

Any one?

I see questions like "isn't my kitty cute?" and all the cat people say "your kitty is almost as cute as mine" but there are always a few people who say "Your cat is ugly, take it out and shoot it."
You people- exactly what do you get out of that?
I do not care for snakes but I don't go to the reptile board and tell people to shoot their snakes?

I have a kitten who likes to paw at stuff... not like she's clawing it, but more like scratching around as if she's about to pee. It always scares me when she does it because I think she might pee! What is she doing? And why? She's not sharpening her claws....like I said it's more like a litter box type of scratch. She does it to boxes, in laundry baskets, at the door.

I went on vacation a month ago and found him. As I said, he's 2-5 according to the vet, unaltered(not fixed) and he pees and poops on everything in my house. I thought animals wouldn't smell up where they slept. He uses the litter box but also likes my bed, where he sleeps as well. I know unfixed males mark stuff, but what about the pooping? He's very sweet and loving but this can't go on-the problem is I'm too poor to get him fixed for awhile too. Do you know any tricks???

They have and use a nice big cat tree primarily, but they still occasionally use two spots on two of my couches. They scratch nothing else in the house. It is just 2 of the 3 cats that I catch doing it. I yell at them when I see them do it but I think they mainly do it while Im at work. I have tried all the "no scratch" spray products and they still do it. They seem to do it most when they are playing. I will not de-claw them so dont bother suggesting it.

My husband and I have a four year old female cat who has been our spoiled princess for a while now- almost three weeks ago we got two male kittens- we introduced them slowly- we kept the kittens in their own room for a while first letting them and our other cat smell eachother under the door and through a pet carrier- we slowly let the kittens come into the rest of the apartment- they still stay in their own room at night and when we are not home- we even got Feliway spray and plug-ins but our cat is still scared of the kittens- she either runs away or hisses at them if they get too close to her- at night time our cat has started to meow at the front door (she is not an outdoor cat and never leaves our apartment)- our kittens try to play with our cat sometimes but she is too afraid- we don't know what else to do- we want to keep our kittens but we don't want our cat to be miserable- will she ever get along with them? What else should we do? (we also give our cat extra attention)

Does anybody else out there think it's wrong to put down or put to sleep animals? Most the time I hear about animals being put down becuase the human/s are suffering becuase the animal has something wrong with it.For all the human know the animal might acutually value its life and want to keep fighting for it's life. Sick animal, mal-tempered animal or bad attitude animals are the main dumb reasons I've heard for killing an animal.
Do ya'll think it's wrong or right to kill animal becuase some of us suffer at the struggle of the animal? And why?Cant we just ship thees animal off to jungles or something and let let them continue their life fending for themselves. Please dont say they cant fend for themselves becuase the've been "demesticated" by humans. Not true,my cats bring home small animal the've killed all the time. They still know how to act wild. They animals arnt demesticated, they've just had to get use to humans. But they very much still know how to be wild animals:-)

The vet said its because of stress and gave me eye drops and tablets but that did nothing so I went back again and got stronger tablets but still no good. My cat only comes into contact with his brother and he is fine. There is only one vet in our town. Otherwise my cat is happy but he squints alot. any ideas of whats going on?

Every night I lock my cats (I have 4 right now;Ive' had as many as 8) in the garage, and every morning I feed them, make sure they have water, and after I see their done eating I let them out. But I seem to have this one cat that started to always whine in the morning. I give him food and he eats his fill, I give him water, he drinks till he's content, and I let him out in the morning and he goes out still whining about something. I cant figure out what's wrong with him or what he wants. I also notice that he always runs up the street to the house on the oppisite end. As far as I've noticed the people at that other house avoid the cat and presumedly dont do anything to or for the cat.
Somone please tell me what I'm missing and what the cat keeps whining or complaning about?

Thanks to every-one who sent me ideas on how to avoid losing my arms to kitten savagery.....no joke.
I think I may have found the solution.....every time he launches an attack I stare and hiss at him really loudly and in quite a fierce way,a few days on and he does seem to be getting the message.
I know it's not a question but thought it might be helpful to any-one in the same situation.
