Does anybody else out there think it's wrong to put down or put to sleep animals? Most the time I hear about animals being put down becuase the human/s are suffering becuase the animal has something wrong with it.For all the human know the animal might acutually value its life and want to keep fighting for it's life. Sick animal, mal-tempered animal or bad attitude animals are the main dumb reasons I've heard for killing an animal.
Do ya'll think it's wrong or right to kill animal becuase some of us suffer at the struggle of the animal? And why?Cant we just ship thees animal off to jungles or something and let let them continue their life fending for themselves. Please dont say they cant fend for themselves becuase the've been "demesticated" by humans. Not true,my cats bring home small animal the've killed all the time. They still know how to act wild. They animals arnt demesticated, they've just had to get use to humans. But they very much still know how to be wild animals:-)

it is DOMESTICATED, not what you were spelling. a dog can live in the wild. but will have to eat junk, dead animals. i dog does not know to chase down a squirrel and eat it.
cats do.
plus they can get worms and die quick. not to mention rabies and other sht.

It depends on the quality of life. If an animal has an illness that can be controlled with medicine and the animal is still able to get around and enjoy life then no, it shouldn't be put to sleep. But if the animal is suffering and in bad pain with no way to stop the pain, the animal should be humanely euthanized. The idea of shipping pets off to jungles is kind of crazy. The jungle is full of wild animals that are higher up on the food chain and cats and dogs will become their dinner.

Yes I think it is wrong to put an animal to sleep UNLESS they are in very bad pain. If you can help get the animal better than you should, but if there comes a time where the animal is in so much pain you need to put them to sleep.
And no; you cannot put cats into the wild. They have been domesticated by humans and unless they were born in the wild AKA a street cat, they do not know how to survive and hunt for their own food and it would be mean to do that to the poor cat just because you didn't want it anymore. That is why we have No Put To Sleep Animal Shelters. Because of those shelters animals then get a chance to be somewhere that gives them a chance of adoption without being put to sleep.

I do not believe in just killing animals, don't wear fur. I think it is sad that so many animals are put down every year because there are so many homeless dogs and cats. But if you have a pet that is sick, I did, then it is your responsibility if it is suffering to have it humainly put to sleep. Letting an animal suffer in pain is CRUEL. Animals feel pain just as we do, and it wouldn't be right for a family member to let you lay there suffering. If people would be responsible and have their pets spayed and neutered then over population wouldn't be a problem. Animals in the wild starve and die from disease due to overpopulation, that is why there is seasonal hunting. Animals that are domesticated do not know how to fend for themselves. Did you ever hear of a thing called love? When you have a pet and love your pet, you treat it humainly. Not like a wild animal. If a dog lived as they do in the wild, then you could not trust them in your home. In the wild, it is kill or be killed. So maybe you might become your dogs midnight snack when you forgot to feed it. I haven't heard to many people say they put their animal to sleep because it was hurting them. They do it because they can't bare to see their friend suffer. Even humans in certain situations have reverted to ending the life of someone they cared about because of suffering. Why would you want to put a sick PET in the wild that maybe some animal would eat it alive because it was to weak to defend itself. Think about it- what would be more cruel???

I dont think its wrong to put down animals if they are very sick or seriously injured, sometimes if you truely love something you don't want it to suffer. I do have a HUGE problem with animals that get put down in animal shelters because "nobody wants it" I think that its a shame that people decide to make an investment with their time, money, and energy to have a pet and then when the pet doesn't behave how they want it to, or it eats more than they thought, people just kick it out the door. Having a pet is a responsibility and some people just don't know the meaning of the word. I have never and will never support shelters that put down animals just because they can, and I think that everyone should take responsibility for their animals. Get them fixed so there are no unwanted babies, and take care of what you started. If you brought it home......its yours.........take care of it.

Most animals that get put down are on the advice of a qualified veterinarian, who's already counseled the owners that the animal's "quality of life" is beyond redemption. Humans are the only species that will allow a substandard specimen to take up space. In the animal world, even the parents of those animals that can't fend for themselves are "put down".
In most cases euthanizing an animal is doing it a great service.

Animals should not be killed for the convince of humans. But some animals are so sick that it's time for them to go on to the Next Thing. The 10th life in the case of cats.
Case in point. I had a 17 y/o cat with kidney disease. She couldn't eat much, she was in pain she had lost control of her bladder and was a soggy wet mess. Even if I had the $40,000.00 for a kitty kidney transplant, she probably would not have survived the surgery. And some poor donor cat would have had a kidney taken out for no reason.
I asked the vet "So what you are telling me is that there is nothing left for this cat but pain and humiliation in this life right?" He said if she was lucky she would go into a coma before she died but I was right. (Cats like being clean and Mandy, this cat, never missed the box.)
So I gave permission for the vet to help her along where she was going anyway.
Everybody makes their own decisions based on a particular set of circumstances.

So your saying that when my dog had lung cancer so bad that he could barely breath, that he could barely raise his head on his own, that we should have released him into the wild? ARE YOU CRAZY?!

When an animal is ill to the point where its GOING TO DIE no matter what the vet does, then it is kinder to put them out of their misery than to leave them in agony for a few more days.

I won't say that they can't fend for themselves because they have been domesticated (even though most dogs and some cats can't) But I will say that an animal that is a candidate for euthanasia is either to old, to sick, or to hurt to have any quality of life WITHOUT needing to find its own food while fending off predators and the elements.

If we just sent all the unwanted animals to a reserve or jungle, they'd destroy the habitat and shortly thereafter die in droves. Our pets are overwhelmingly carnivorous, and an ecosystem can only sustain itself if the number of organisms at the top of the food web are far outweighed by the organisms at the bottom.

I hate that animals are killed, but consider: would you rather the sick, vicious, and socially unfit animals be killed, or the unwanted but perfectly fit animals born every day? If some animals have to die (and in our world, with so many people refusing to spay and neuter their pets, they do) I would rather see a damaged, crazed dog be put down than an unwanted pup with potential.

It's not cruel, in fact I know several people that would appreciate being "put down" if they could instead of suffering from incurable illnesses that are too painful to live with. Animals are treated better than humans in that respect, they have the dignity to die in peace surrounded by people that love them without anymore suffering.

Now, I'm sure abandoning the animal in the woods in much more humane.........Not a chance.
