I definitely know I have a short hair kitten but I still have a question regarding it's fur. Does it continue to grow it's whole life and it will become a psuedo-long haired or medium hair as it gets older. The reason I ask is weather or not I need to invest in a shaving kit for the kitten. Thanks.

No- short haired cats constantly shed and regrow their hair. It will always stay the same length, but they do need to be brushed regularly. A simple $1 "unbreakable" comb will do- just be gentle with it.

a short-haired kitten will retain that length of hair for a lifetime. Sometimes a short haired kitten can be mistaken for a medium haired one.
There is no reason to shave short-haired or medium-haired cats. Long-haired cats are sometimes shaved if the owner does not want to spend the time needed in grooming to prevent mats and also if it gets really warm, for the cats comfort.
That said, shaving a cat is a bit more difficult than shaving a dog because cats have loose skin and it is extremely easy to accidentally cut your cats skin and cause bleeding. The cat is not going to be receptive to shaving if it gets hurt everytime it's done. If you feel the need to shave your cat, have a professinal groomer do it.

first - don't shave your kitten - if you wanted a completely hairless cat - they have those breeds. But if you cat is short haired, it will stay short haired. You can tell at birth what the lenght of their fur will be.

Shave a kitten? wth.... that's insane.... it'll have short hair.. if it is a long haired cat it would have long hairs the same for medium. O.o

Usually, that is too long for me. I think it depends on the guy as well as his face though. Certain guys can pull off long hair and other people can't.
