My sister just got a cat. Shes all black, very pretty, soft silky fur....we are clueless on a name for her though. We don't want a common name lik Blacky or Midnight though.

I know this is kind of a redundant question, but I really haven't had a fitting name come to me yet. He'll be 6 weeks old on Sunday and is a little fireball. The rest of my cat's names are Shady (solid gray), Jabber (calico), Salem (black), Sockie (gray/white tabby), and Lucyfur (van calico)...so originality would be a plus. Thanks.

We just moved to another house. My kitty made the adjustment very well.....But lately, she has been mellowing a lot....I am not sure if she is trying to tell me something or is just bored..... Also, she used to go out all the time....We installed a cat door but she hardly goes out like she used to in the other house. Any ideas? Thanks

Then, about 2 months after we moved to a new house, she started pooping beside the litter box. Now she will go anywhere in the room where the litter boxes are. Never in another room. Anybody have any experience/suggestions?

care of her so my husband brought her inside to me. Her eyes aren't even open yet! I am trying to feed her with a baby animal bottle but she is being stubborn and i am having to squeeze the milk into her mouth, i managed to get an ounce of milk down her but i need to know how much does she need to have a day and is regular vitamin D milk ok to feed to her? Has anyone ever had to do this and if so how long until they catch on to the sucking of the bottle?

We keep our cat's litter box in our laundry room because that is the only place we have in our home for it. However, about a year and a half ago (after I had our second son) she started peeing on any clothes left in baskets or on the floor. These clothes are usually literally 2 feet away from her cat box. She is 8 years old and we have never had a problem with her peeing anywhere other than her box. She sometimes even ventures out at this point and pees on clothes left on the floor in other rooms. We feel like it is a behavioral thing because she really only seems to do it when she is mad at us for something (i.e. we go out of town, we leave her outside longer than normal, we raise our voices, etc). We've had her from the beginning and obviously love her, but she's ruining clothes, blankets, towels, carpeting, etc. If anybody has any non-violent suggestions, they would be very helpful!

We got our female cat when she was about 1 year old. She had been spayed already, her hair was just growing back when we got her. I just noticed she has a knot, feels like a bubble, on her lower belly. My husband thinks it's from being spayed.. anyone got any info on this?

I work on a farm, and yesterday a woman dropped a cat off because she couldn't take w/ her when she moved to a nursing home. I took it home and gave it everything a cat wants, but shut it off from my other pets (a 150 pound dog and 3 vicious cats). It seems scared, which I understand, but its displaying some weird tendencies. It sucks on the tip of its tail whenever I'm in the room. I can't get it to stop. It "burrows" underneath a 30 pound comforter on the floor, and I don't know how it breathes, but it can stay under there for hours at a time. Its eating, sleeping, drinking, and going to the bathroom, but I don't know how to make it more comfortable. It has a vet appointment to see what we can find out about it (like the gender). If it gets injections, I'm afraid it'll get even more scared. It has mood swings, sometimes I can pet it but other time it hisses at me when I touch it. What should I do?

I have two brothers and only one has this issue (the other brother is allergic to his vaccinations, but that is another story). Apparently his gums are rejecting his teeth and they are red and swollen. Vet says he was born with this. We have tried the OraVet gel but it is too painful to apply twice a day. We have also tried steroid shots which worked on a temporary basis. They also no longer work. The vet says that the only option is to remove all of his teeth. I think that would be a great ordeal to put an 8 yr old cat through. Does anyone know of any other options, or has had a cat that has been through a similar situation?

Thanks to all who offer serious answers!
:-)

I know a few people who seem like they are compensating for never having a child. It seems a bit odd.

About 2.5 hrs. ago I put Hartz flea powder & spray a bit much on my 12 week cat. It already had a collar that was on a few days and didn't seem to be helping. The cat acted blind & walked around as if drunk. I rused him to the vet who said she was dying go home & bathe her(which I did). She is now alert & seems to be able to see. However, she still walks a bit strange & is shivering. I called the vet who told him to give her a day and bring her back tommorow, but I feel I should be doing more to help her. It was my stupid mistake that caused this & I'm sooo sorry for that but any advice that is sincere is welcomed.

Yuk ! ! !

I took my kitten for her first injection on tuesday, the vet gave her an all over medical, and then said my kitten had got 'ear mites', so she proceeded to wash out her ears very aggressivly, and then put sum canular ear drops in and massaged this in aggressively too, then she rubbed screwed up tissue in the ear and cleaned them.
I was quite alarmed at the vet for puttin my kitten thru this, but didn't say anythin, then she told me she would prescribe the ear drops for the kitten, and for me to carry on doing this procedure every day for five days, but, i wasn't shown what to look out for, in the kittens ears, and i've not once seen her scratching at her head or ears before we visited the vets or after ! ! !
Do you think she 'really' did have ear mites or was i being ripped off by my vet ! !

Whenever they want to be fed, my cats just sit on me or rub on me and just generally respond much more enthusiastically to my petting/caresses? Whenever, I want to hold them, they run away or ignore me. When they're hungry they come to me and are very responsive to my every gesture.

I know it sounds silly. I know this is how they act, but my question is: how do they know that this behaviour pleases me and will get them food? Let's say, if they wouldn't have been petted/held before, so they wouldn't have been able to associate this with food, would they have known to act like this?

Oh, and could this be called hypocrisy? Lol.

should I just put a collar on him and let him go? he's microchipped already and has been neutered and had all his shots done. I don't believe in letting cats roam free without supervision. something could happen to them. I truly don't want to do it but he's sooooooo tempting. every time I open the front door to go outside he starts crying. I don't know what to do. I want him to be a strictly inside only cat but I don't know if that's possible. I have a 2 year old female who is strictly indoors and she's scared to death to go outside thank goodness (she's spayed too). Please Help. Thank you.

I have a cat and I think it has an unhealthy obsession with plastic bags. If there is a plastic bag in the vacinity he will find it, lay on it, and commence to lick and lick and lick at it until it is taken away. Just wondering if anybody else has run into this.
