Besides Food and a litter box

Just be sure to have a good area to set up the food and water, and prepare the litter box with fresh litter and a lining. Show the kitty where the litter box is as soon as he arrives home. You may want to get some treats and some little toys. If its still a cat with claws, get some type of scratching board. Otherwise, your curtains will be destroyed! My kitten mangled mine!

I got my kitty a bed, toys, scratching post, and a kitty condo. My cats also love fleece blankets. They are way cheaper than cat beds and they prefer them. Go figure. My female cat LOVES cardboard boxes. I'll bring her home a box every once in awhile for her to play in. She's like a little kid. She prefers the box that the toy came in!

Well, hopefully you have a litter box, some kitty food, kitty dishes and a few kitty toys...other than that a good scratching post is highly recomended.

My cats love the toys that hang in the doorway. We got them at Wal-Mart for under $2.00. It's the only thing they will really play with. Also a scratching post.

Plants should be kept out of Meowser's reach, unless it's that grass you can buy at the pet store. Electrical cords, wires, draperies should be secured. I don't think it's necessarily so much what should be in the house but what should be out of Meowser's reach.

Whatever "toys" it will play with and a scratching post (so it won't use your furniture).

Also, you'll need cleaning supplies such as shampoos, etc. A brush, comb, etc.
