YOu should get a trap and put the food in the trap, that's what I do, My mom and I trap the feral cats in our neighborhood and get them spayed/neutered....there are so many and the pound is always putting them to sleep, it's sad. Hope you catch the cat and are able to help it!!

I had the same situation with a little stray cat.

She was more of a kitten, but I knew she was an adult cat. When she showed up with a tiny white kitten, I knew I had to do something.

I started feedin her on the deck. I would also stay outside with her while she ate. After a week, she started letting her little kitten come up for some food.

The whole time I had a medium dog kennel sitting on the deck. Each time I would move the food closer and closer to the kennel. When they were brave enough to go into the dog kennel, I left them alone for a few days and kept leaving the food in the kennel.

After a few days, I was finally able to slam the door shut and took them to the animal shelter. Her kitten went right away. And she was put into foster care to learn how to be an inside kitty. She also had another litter while in foster care.

I was so glad. She really needed a home. The tomcats were literaly tearing her up whenever she came into heat. Poor little thing.

I am happy to say she has found a forever home and is adjusting perfectly. So don't give up! Be patient and the capture can be painless for you and them.

You have to get a trap called " have a heart" Home Depot sells
them but if you set the trap you must be able to watch it. If you set the trap and leave food in it other animals may go inside, or the cat may go inside and someone may come and abuse her when she is trapped. Find a secure place where you can leave
food on a regular basis. If the cat comes to eat there you can
set the trap at that spot, but remember you must be able to check the trap before anyone can find it. Make arrangements with a vet that you will be bringing in a feral cat to be spay or
neutered and have its shots. If you cannot afford to do this leave
it alone. Aslo she may not be feral but just scared but you will not
know until you trap her.

racoon traps are the best way to go! we caught three kittens, a full grown male from the same mom, and the mom its self! all the strays around us! we let the mom go and the male.. but kept the ktittens to bring to the pound... one got out of our house but the trap really worked! put cat food or tuna in it! it doesnt hurt the cat at all! Good luck!

keep leaving food for it, even if you can't catch it at least you know he's eating...just give it time... if you can go many days without seeing it though it may not actually be a stray. We have a cat in our neighbourhood, we all thought he was a stray but he actually belongs down the street... he just does his patrol.. like a little neighbourhood watch lol.. good luck tho... you sound like you could give it a good home. :)

you should really leave the cat alone. i have three stray cats in my backyard and i tried that but stray cats are meant to live in the streets and if you bring them into you home they will become very nervous. tried that and didnt work. some are just not people freindly. dont try to catch her. leave her please because the more frightened you make them the more they will not want to come to you. the mother teaches her kittens how to live in the streets and survive. she will find food in the streets. you can feed her. just dont adopt her. my own experiance.

i could advise laying out some style of bait (fish, milk, catfood) for some nights in a row. enable the little kittys grow to be comfortable returning to an identical spot for a snack. Then after some days or so, you will desire to be waiting to coax them into any style of straightforward catch, inclusive of a field, a blanket, or in case you will get close adequate, even possibly a fishing internet! solid success!

I'd suggest a live capture cage trap. They cost something like $50
at the hardware store. Sometimes the police or animial control will lend them out.

Good luck!

If you can, call the animal control officer. If you think she's ok, try bringing her to the humane society - if you have a carrier or something. It's too bad that you couldn't keep it.

chances are if she is full grown, you wont catch her

the neiborhood I used to live in was full of wild cats. the only time you oculd domesticate was to catch a kitten. there were at least 40 of them, and the adults always avoided captivity.
