I have a cat and I think it has an unhealthy obsession with plastic bags. If there is a plastic bag in the vacinity he will find it, lay on it, and commence to lick and lick and lick at it until it is taken away. Just wondering if anybody else has run into this.

That's really common. It must be the chemicals. One of my cats is a photograph licker, you can't keep pictures lying around or he will find them and lick like crazy. Either it tastes really good or gives them a buzz, like catnip!

Yes! My fat male cat does this all the time. I just thought he was a little off. His favorite bag to lick is the Old Navy ones. Maybe I'm a little off for noticing that... or just really bored. Anyway, he will lay on it and lick it untill he falls asleep. Weird.

No, my cat got caught in a plastic bag once and freaked out. Now he won't go anywhere near a plastic bag, he has issues though. Just be careful that your cat doesn't suffocate himself.

Mine, and I have 5 aren't bag lickers. They do however enjoy them. When I come in from shopping they always assume that I have something special for them in the bags. They can't wait until I remove the items, each waiting and watching. After I have removed all items and they didn't get anything special, they get inside the bags just to make sure. Then they just sit there looking at me like I forgot them when I went to Wal-Mart.

My cat Amy LOVES plastic. We constantly find her going through the garbage can to find some plastic to eat. It's very annoying. We even find lovely suprises in her litter box such as pretty ribbon and other colorful bits of plastic that pass through her. I wouldn't worry about it as long as they don't get themselves into a situation where they would suffocate. Take it away if he tries to eat it, but otherwise it should be fine. You have a wonderfully strange cat like many of us do. They make our lives a joy and give us many laughs.

My cat doesn't just lick plastic bags, he eats them. He'll find one and start chewing up the nearest corner.

my kitty gets into plastic grocery bags when im putting away the shopping and he goes to sleep.
then i pick the bag up and carry him around the house in it. he loves it.
sometimes when he wakes up and gets out of the bag he sticks his head through the handle, which is pretty darn cute, but he always manages to figure his way out.
