I have a cockatiel now that I could not say no to coming into my home. I am the 3rd family he has known, (traumatic) just as any of my pets I have a real weak spot for them, thier family abandonded them. I have a lot of outdoor animals and quite a few outdoor pets, but this is the first one that was totally dependent on human contact. He is fine, his name is Vito and he is totally spoiled getting the run of the house. My problem is that I work long hours and he is alone at least 8 to 10 hours a day. He is fine with 2 to 3 hours of play outside the cage, but, I NEED TO KNOW, he talks and whistles and has a lot of words now, sorry didn't know he would learn words so easily,(nothing vulgar). I have heard if I got him a mate he would stop singing and talking, but then again if he had a male playmate he would be fine!! I definately do not have the time to care for his offspring if I did get a female..........from what I have read on cottage website. He is probably 10 now, any advice?

I have three and they all get along well and are very spoiled. They live in a very large cage and do get alot of attention. Lately, they have become so noisy it's intolerable! The oldest male is the worst. He used to talk and whistle preety tunes but not anymore! I'm not to sure what sex the younger ones are but I think they are females. Should I get rid of the oldest one? He drives everyone nuts! He tries to bite you if you put your hand in there but he will come up to the bars and loves to get his head scratched. I just can't tolerate the constant squaking! I'm going to go crazy. They do this especially from 8 a.m. till about 4 p.m. They get a large variety of food and treats and have plenty of interesting toys. HELP!!!!!!!!

I have a quaker parrot and he puffs his feathers up alot. I heard this could be a sign of aggression, but he doesn't act mad. Like he does it a lot when I talk to him or blow lightly. He doesn't do this so much with other people. Could this be a sign of affection?

I might get one soon. But I was wondering if they can be tame, like keep them on your sholder or your finger. Are they noisy? Do they get sick easily? Please tell me as much as you know about them
