Three months ago i was given two baby chicks by my kind neighbours who felt sorry for the loss of my beautiful rooster. They went out to get me "Silkies" because they know how much I love them but.....One is definately a Silkie (partridge) but the other that "apparently" came from the same hen...remember, I wasn't there...is definately NOT a "pure" silkie.
She is double the size, has pink skin, white with a splash of grey/black sporadically throughout her feathers, has a small "top not" and feather feet.
Any idea what is going on here?
Oh yeah...she is extremely intellagent...extremely!

I just noticed my 4 year old cockatiel seems to have feathers missing from around its left ear hole. The ear hole is prominent and not covered by feathers as usual. I haven't noticed it scratching it or my other cockatiel pecking it. Is this a symptom of some well known problem?

I got a new cockatiel that doesn't want any interaction with me. What is the best approach to use to start the taming process and how long does it normally take to make a sociable pet? He is less than a year old and the vet says he is healthy. Also, he will only eat the very small seeds in his food, not he sunflower seeds or fruit. Is this sufficient for him?

1. I don't know if its a boy or girl. -She has an orangeish cheek. She also chirps (kinda like a Togepi from Pokemon) a lot, and her crest is about 3 inches long. (She is only 5 months old). She hasn't molted yet. How will I know if she's a boy or girl?

2. Also whenever i'm here she chirps (like Togepi) again, but if i leave, she gives out this very loud chirp and I think I have figured out it means she wants attention. Is there any way to fix this?

3.Last but not least, about 1/4 the time I see her she is like putting her head in her feathers and it looks like she bites them but then i also see her grooming her other feathers. Is this normal?

PLEASE PEOPLE I NEED HELP. I HAVEN'T FOUND A GOOD WEBSITE. ANSWERS PLEASE

Several of my neighbors have feeders so the birds aren't looking at mine. I have 4 feeders up, one with thistle, a suet feeder, a platform feeder and a tube feeder. I also have a birdbath out for them but its been a week and I haven't had any takers.

My two parakeets I'm had for at least six years recently decided to lay eggs and at first I thought they were just infertile, but turns out 2 weeks later 4 hatch and now I have 4 little baby parakeets. All of them in the last month have grown and got all thier feathers in and waddle around the cage.

All but the last baby parakeet to hatch, she is always flat on her stomach and her feet stick straight out the side of her. She tries to stand up but it's like she has no knees just legs, she can't bend them. I never having baby birds before have no clue what to do or know what is wrong. Does anybody have any clue?
Thanks

I have a large family-2 adults, 5 kids, and we're thinking about getting a bird. We want one we can handle and play with, so we were thinking love birds, conures, or cockatiels. What can you tell me about the traits of these breeds? Any suggestions about other breeds we should consider?
The adults would always be present while the kids were with the bird of course.

Ok...I have had cockatiels in the past, work at a pet store for 2 years, and I also have a Sun Conure. I must say I have never even heard of a bird actin as crazy as my cockatiel is.
About 3 weeks ago I adopted a cockatiel from my work. She was previously owned. She seems to be alright with being held...it takes her a few to say "this is ok"
Since bringin her home she has laid a total of 4 eggs. The first 2 were about a week ago and they were cracked and she payed no attention, so I threw them away. About 3 days ago she layed one and it didn't crack, but she has been acting like she is on crack!!!!! She is SO overly protective of the egg!!! She barely eats, eating like only twice a day from what I see. Mainly when I am near the cage - like she knows she doesn't have to worry about the egg while she eats with me their.
Today I noticed a second egg that she is protecting. Its kinda cute and all how she is being motherly to these eggs, but their is NO MALE!!!
I have heard, learned, and experienced that they only protect and care for the egg when it is possibly fertilized and they can even tell this. Why is she wiggin out on these eggs?? Is she longing to be a mommy?? Do I need to find her a honey?? I haven't thrown the eggs away - Do I need to, or just let her play mom for a while??
Thanks

a beautiful white fully-grown owl perches outside our bathroom and kitchen window (in the chowk) and for the last few weeks it has been persistently hissing or wheezing throughout the day and night. Is it in pain or is it lost...?

I mean you can nearly run over a bird before you scare it off but you cant get within 30 feet of a bird on foot before it flies away. Why is this?

We have 2 males brothers that want nothing to do with her and never have, but she keeps going to them. She seems untrusting of me, since I was the 1 who took the sick and dying bird out and to the vet and she saw that.
