Yes. Not on a constant basis, but on occasion it shouldn't hurt. They survive much better on natural foods and sugars, such as the ones from fruits and vegetables.

Try some dried fruit and/or banana flakes if your little guy (or girl) likes the texture of the corn flakes. The first sens birds generally use to determine whether or not to eat something is by texture. Since he's already accustomed to the corn flakes, dried fruit shouldn't be that big of a leap.

Also keep in mind that budgies and any hookbill parrots hull their seeds before they swallow them. Combine that with their intake of fruits and vegetables and you have absolutely no need for grit. in fact, if any type of parrot consumes too much grit it can block their crop, causing a whole host of other problems.

just plain corn flakes are fine , but keep in mind moderation is key some birds will take to treats rather than their seed or pellet a treat once a week is plenty thinyou also can try cooked pasta , boiled chicken sounds mean to feed a bird a bird , but it is great protein , organic peanut butter and unsalted crackers for some new treats

Umm - doesn't sound like a good idea. Cornflakes are full of salt which could seriously damage your bird's kidneys. They do make flaked corn for animal feed and I'm sure that that wouldn't do any harm, but please don't feed the human sort.

No, this wont hurt him as a treat. Don't be feeding him frosted flakes...artificial sugar is no better for birds than humans! (Did you know artificial sugar is bleached? There's bleach in that sugar you're sticking in your coffee ;) )

The idea of you feeding him such a course treat reminds me: You need to be providing your budgie with grit. I'm sure that's a subject you've heard a lot of controversy on, but people seem to ignore the fact that grit is the main component in most birds' digestion . They have a special organ/pouch designed specifically for the storage and distribution of the grit they take in...this will not hurt their stomach, and no it does not damage their intestines. They are biologically equipped, and instinctively hard-wired, for intake of grit to aid in their digestion!

All of that being said...

Corn flakes are fine. :) I feed my budgie a WIDE variety of foods. Mine also enjoys other cereals, particularly cheerios. I string them on a circular wire necklace and hang it on his ladder...he pushes the cheerios around the loop and eats them when he's through playing!

Its great to feed it to them!! They also love dark green veggies like spinach, just a plain piece of lettuce or broccilii. They love cooked pasta too--just make sure to stay away from chocolate and ovacato--deadly to birds.

Don't feed cornflakes to your budgies unless your vet says so. Cuz it might be too rich for them and then they can get sick. If your vet gives the all clear, try crumbling a few in with their regular food.
