I have a quaker parrot and he puffs his feathers up alot. I heard this could be a sign of aggression, but he doesn't act mad. Like he does it a lot when I talk to him or blow lightly. He doesn't do this so much with other people. Could this be a sign of affection?

I have 2 quakers and its his way of showing affection yes, also they do that before they poop. It is not a sign of aggression.

Your Quaker is most likely doing what is called "Rousing" his feathers. Parrots have the ability to move their feathers and when they puff up like that at a time when there is no reason to become aggressive, they will "rouse" them up and lay them down again. It's a sign of a relaxed bird. It's not unlike humans stretching.

Hmm... I've seen it in a Macaw I think. My Grandma has a parrot.
My mom had a parrot too.
It means he's listening to you... he likes the sound or what you are doing. Sometimes they make a little sound too.
Then again the whole aggression thing I don't necessarily doubt.
Parot I know bites because he's not Mr. Tame... yikes my fingers.
I agree with him being happy or affectionate.
I was petting our cockatiel and she fluffs up when I do that. She likes it. lol
Hope this helps.^_^

huh. i think a little bit of puffing is ok, depends how much he is doing. tricky with male parrots when you are a female owner; they sometimes will act out courtship movements with you. just a heads up!

For the record, I agree with Phoenix. However, I've enjoyed reading the other answers as well!
