My male lovebird was paired ever since I got him and his mate recently died. He looks so aweful and isn't acting himself. None of my bird books help. Any help?

Solitary female lovebird 4 years old. Lays 2-3 clutches of eggs/year. Gets very territorial when she lays eggs. No other birds in the house.

Well I didn't have a nest for my cockateil eggs and so I just put them into a bowl with lots of hay for protection and the bowl was plastic. The momma tried to sit on her eggs in the bowl but the bowl would just fall over so I replaced the plastic bowl with a glass bowl and put hay in the bowl but t she just took out the hay and just sat on it like that and I was going to put more hay in the glass bowl but Im not sure if I should. Should I buy a nesting box or possibly build one? If I build one, wait first how do I build one? Plz help me!!

My newborn is 2 weeks old and just got out of the hospital. I took a quick second to ask this question. I think my macaw would be good, she has been with me for 10 years and that is how old she is. She hasn't been biting unless someone bothers her but she doesn't know my child and squawks, and she flies free sometimes. She likes her cage and has the option but I am afraid that when she is flying she will hurt my child. What do I do?

I just got it and if you try to hold it, it bites and screeches and tries to fly (wings not clipped) away. I really want to hold it, where could I get the wings clipped and how do I do it? He is so cute and wanted me to pick him but now that I have him he is so annoying! He is 4 or 5 months old from petco.

The birds themselves don't smell but the cage and the surrounding area smells bad. I clean the cage and vaccum the surrounding area everday. What do I do to get rid of the smell? I didn't have this problem when I had only 2 parakeets.

I have a new neighbor that has thrown unbelievable number of mothballs out into a mother ducks nest (the babies hatched 5 days ago and the duck family is now on the other side of my porch away from the her house). I could not figure out what the horrid smell was & finally discovered it today. I looked it up on the EPA site & it states that using mothballs is illegal & is number one on the No No list of pesticides. Not to mention the horrible smell for the neighbors nearby & that fact that it is toxic & they are not soluable in water - they only break down as a gas into the air. So, I called my local animal control & protection - they stated they tell people to use them to keep snakes & other things away from their house! How can my city be telling people this when the federal EPA agency states they are illegal to use as a pesticide due to their toxicity? Tell me if you heard of this type of issue & how it was taken care of. I filed a web complaint with the EPA.

I did not set up my yard as a grocery store for predator birds. I enjoy nature as much as anybody, but the sight of one animal eating another is not my idea of fun. I am not going to embrace the bird and respect his rights. So I guess shooting it is the next best thing. Next for the suggestion.
