... or do they all look too much the same?

Just visually- could you pick yours out if it was in a flock or group of others of the same species?

I really want a bird so bad. To anyone that thinks I shouldn't be on here, my mom knows I am. She just doesn't want to pay more than $500 on the supplies and stuff in a total.
We are going to PETCO tomorrow. How much does a lovebird cost there? And is there some kind of cheap conure there? And how much are cockatiels?

hi last month i woke to find my 11 yr.old quaker had mutilated his self, i was in shock!! i called both vets in my town, no one would see him, not familiar with birds, so i called several out of state vets, they helped me greatly, hes coming around, but not yet 100%what else can i do?? the vets told me to bath him with very mild soap that i got from a health food store, & spray him with diluted aloe juice, that really helped him, what he had done was plucked all his feathers out, till he was bleeding, now hes doing much better, he eats very good, takes his baths, but doesnt make too much noise like he used too, & he doesnt look very healthy, so is there anything else i can do for him, like food or vitamins or any thing, i do give him vitamins in his water, just any help woild be appreciated.........thank you!!!

Some Blackbirds in my garden appear begraggled, have white patches of feathers or even bare patches of skin. They still visit the bird table and seem to be otherwise OK.

I am taking my budgie, "Molly" to the vet today. He is not an avian vet so I am not sure what will happen. Nearest avian vet is 130 miles away. Last night she was fine I think, moving around and kissing me. This morning she has to use her beak to help her move around her food dish where she usually perchs herself. And she has no problem with me putting my hand around her. She usually pecks at me a little but today she is not scared at all.
Any ideas would be nice. I have been crying since this morning. She is getting old, around 7-8 years old.

Thank you.

Ok...today my parakeet has been maing noise when he is breathing...it has subsided a little bit but I still want ot get it taken care of. I am thinking it could be a respiratory infection or something. Has anyone ever been in this situation before...I might try antibiotics that way even if it isnt anything he will still have some medicine.

I have 8 hens, no rooster and they were laying 50+ a week regularly ... what happened is that the dominant "leader" of the others somehow broke her leg and cant walk now ... she is fine and eating but just hops on one foot and stays close to the coop and doesnt run the yard with the others but now nobody is laying ... any ideas?

I posted about curiousity of teaching cockatiels new whistles/words with cds specific for repetition to play while not at home.

What whistles/words did it seem quicker/easier for your cockatiel to pick up? Which ones were ones you tried, but they never picked up?

I know each bird like people of course are unique and none of this info will determine what my birds can and can't do. I am just anxious to hear other cockatiel owners experiences =)
