Is the chicken terminally ill or in incurable pain? If it isn't it can't be done humanely.
Why don't you take the chicken to an avian vet for an exam: if she agrees that euthanization is actually a humane option she will advise you further. If she believes the chicken has hope she'll tell you how to deal with the problem you're having, even if it means adoption.

On the assumption that you are serious and are or need to kill it then obviously humanely is best here goes: hold the chicken in one hand by its feet with its back towards you, with your other hand slide your hand along the back of neck towards the head, you will feel the part where the head is joined to the spine and your thumb and first finger will make a Y shape cupping around the head. Then firmly stretch the head/ neck. it will quickly and firmly kill the chicken. You need to be sufficiently firm and confidently to dispatch it properly without tearing the flesh. Done sensibly you can dispatch the chicken from first picking it up to gone in less than a minute.

Best way is to pull its neck but there is a technique and if you dont do it right then you just cause the chicken pain. I do know of people who chop there heads off but remember the wings still flap and it is a bit bloody - aways good idea to have a bag to let the blood go into. Good luck

If you don't want to use one of the old fashioned methods which involve wringing its neck, there used to be a gadget you could get which breaks their necks. You pull a lever, and a strong spring releases a bar.
Just Google, and buy one of the smallholding mags they stock in places like WH Smiths.

The old fashion way~ ~ ~ ~when farmers grew chickens for
food~~~they would use an old tree stump, take a hatchet lay the chickens head on the stump and wack it~~ the chicken never knew what happened.
all done.

It depends how humanely,
1. Ring its neck
2. Chop its head off (actually don't)
3. Slit its throat (Muslims use this method to get the blood out)

Try to find a educational farm that will buy or take it in. It is not fair to the chicken to just put it down.

The old guy I used to work with used to hit them over the head with a hammer before ringing their neck. If he messed up ringing the neck, they were unconscious.

do you have the right to take a life? Has that chicken committed murder? do you have evidence? has there been a trial? How do you know that was the chicken wot don it?
