My family has a 26 yr. old horse (we think a quarterhorse), and he was rescued. He has terrible teeth, is not very exited about anything, and is super skinny. He won't eat hay because it hurts too much, so we feed him softened grain. He has an eye infection too, that we're trying to treat. The vet says he's in too poor health to have his teeth done right now. He will soon be with four other horses, but 3 will pick on him at first. Any ideas??? Thanks!!!!!!

when i go to bed i sleep with the door shut and my cat not sleeping in my bedroom.
i always makes sure she has a full bowl of food and a full bowl of clean water.
shes and indoor/outdoor cat so she is welcome to do what she wants.

well im a very very light sleeper and apperently she knows that because in the morning when the sun starts coming up she will sit outside of more door and just start to cry loud. it makes me up everytime but only me no one else is awakened.
ive tryed ignoring her but she will just cry until i let her in.
ive tryed looking her in my bedroom but she will cry to get out.
and i can leave the bedroom door open because my dog willl come in and eat the cat food.

This is my first female cat, and she now 6 months into her life and in heat. She will be getting sprayed at the end of the month but until then I'm wondering if there is any way for me to help her.

My two male cats have been neutered and don't seem to have any "interest" in her. In fact they seem very annoyed with her bothering them. I'm afraid they will hurt her.

She's an indoor cat and i'm keeping her from trying to get outside but please...if there is any other way for me to help her...please tell me.

It's my fault that I didn't get her sprayed earlier, so I want to make her comfortable as possible before her big surgery.

Any ideas?

Ps. I read somewhere that being in heat is painful for cats. Is that true?

I don't know the names of the plants but i will provide pictures. I have two 13 watt 3000k fluorescent lights in my 5 gallon tank right now but as I understand it, you need something closer to "daylight". My question is shoud i go with a 5000k bulb or a 6500k bulb...or just stick with my 3000k?

Here is a picture of my set up...if anyone can identify the plants and let me know what light is best i would appreciate it very much!

Okay, this is going to sound kind of--well, REALLY--odd, but...would it be possible to keep a flying fish, or a school of flying fish, in your home aquarium? Specifically, one of the "four-winged" flying fish species. I don't know what the smallest variety is, about 1 foot or so? Smaller, maybe?

Has this been done? The reason I ask is simply because I LOVE flying fish (my computer wallpaper currently features one!), and I wondered if anyone had tried keeping them. Internet searches have yielded no answers, alas. Also, what's the smallest species of "four-winged" flying fish?

Sorry for the weird question, but it's been nagging me for a while now and I figured it couldn't hurt to ask, heh. Although I imagine the answer is probably no. Still, it'd be neat to have a really big aquarium (with a really tight cover!) with a school of flying fish. Hey, a girl can dream...

Everyone gets all mad at back yard breeders because of the overpopulation of dogs. Many dogs in shelters etc.. What about these reputable breeders????? What makes them better?? They should stop breeding too shouldn't they? Are they not contributing to the problem?? But because they are registered with the rich snobs etc... at the AKC its ok for them to do exactly the same thing that everyone gets on these BYB for. Sounds like a double standard to me.

I got her for free from a private home full of other pets, she is only 4 weeks old and only seems to ever scratch at her ears. I have seen a lot of flea dirt in my day, and that's what it definitely appears to be, but I have THOROUGHLY combed her head to toe with a flea comb and have not come up with one. What is going on here?!?!

How did your dog react after he was neutered? Did he ever notice that an important part was missing?

A couple months ago, we found a little black kitten in our yard and so we kept her. At the time, she was only a little bigger than my hand. She was able to eat both hard and wet food, but at the time she had trouble with dry food. Maybe she couldn't eat it and she was just that hungry. Her collar was as big as when you put your thumb and first finger together in a circle.

Today, she's probably a foot long (without her tail), she eats hard and wet food as well as plenty of water. She's very, very spunky with a lot of attitude. She attacks the dogs playfully and acts like one of them (if she's even a she.) She's pure black with olive green eyes. She looks like a little black panther.

So- here are my questions. How old do you think she was when we got her? I can calculate age from that time.
What breed is she?
How do I tell her sex?

Thank you!

P.S. I can include a current picture if you e-mail me, t_trayne@yahoo.com.

My daughter works in a deli where a woman comes DAILY to get ground turkey for her dog. My child (AKA "Mouth") took it upon herself to tell the lady that turkey's lethal to dogs. The woman said "Nah," took her turkey, and went to poison her dog. Or whatever. Anybody know the real deal on this? Old wives tale? IS the woman committing caninicide?

My dog has been itching himself more than usual lately (the last week or so), but I never considered fleas until today. I noticed that he has little white things on his black fur. I can't tell if they're moving or not. Are fleas white? Can you see them with the naked eye? Can a groomer take care of the fleas, or do I need to take him to the vet? He's never had fleas before. Thank you!

I have two male cats, age 10 and 4. They seem to be very good friends. Sometimes the older one will lick the forehead of the younger when they are settling down for a nap. The younger one loves it --really blisses out and purrs so loudly. Anyone ever observe this? Thanks.

Ok, this is really wierd, Last night as i was cooking, my dog was playing with her toys, after a few minutes she was barking really loud and sounded angry, i went to see, she was looking at the isle way, I though that my flatmate was probably teasing her, but he was not at home, She kept barking as if she saw something or someone, I was surprized because she is a very lovely and playful dog she would NEVER bark at anyone. It felt strange, I felt as if someone was there. I hugged my dog and calmed her, but she kept looking there for a few seconds then she became quiet, but after that she followed me to the kitchen and sat right beside me in a position as if she was guarding me or something. It was raining, anyway, I freaked, but after sometime there was this strong wind, but after that I felt light, my dog went back to her toys and she seemed normal again. Am I overreacting, or was there really some kinda spirit or something, personally I never paid much interest to these things.
