My husband and I want to get a new dog (puppy actually). We know and understand what goes into having a larger dog, this will be my 4th dog and I think his 10th (his parents had like 6 dogs while he was growing up), so we're not novice owners and intend on training the dog and what not. We have a 2 year old and one of the reasons we selected these breeds was because they are both supposed to be really good with children. Any insight would be very helpful, or share your own experiences with the breeds. Also I live in Maine, if any one knows of breeders of either breed in the New England area, I would love for your to let me know! Thank you!

I have a 5 lb pomapoo and want to add another little baby to the family. Where can I find a dog about the same size, breed doesn't matter, without paying rediculous fees?

If so, I have be worried about him because he seems to be progressing kind of fast. He is happy and "shows" no pain. He does have wobbly legs, is knuckling and usually dragging his nails. He will still take off running and is eating fine. We have not had any bowel issues. I am just concerned and have read tons of stuff about it on the internet, but a lot of the info is constantly repeated. I would just like to get a little insight from anyone who has had a dog with this.

I just went to Petsmart yesterday and saw this adorable kitten. Me and my dad applied for it. Today, about an hour ago, they called and said "Im sorry but we have had too many adoptions for this kitten" and it was long. She also considered something like a humane society. I live in shelby twp, michigan and i was wondering if there is any, or in sterling heights. BUT-- other than that, does Petco have a better chance of getting an animal??

And lastly, I hate pet adoptions. I wish i could just buy a kitten. But i cant. Does the humane society let you BUY or adopt?

Thank you for reading this =]

This is my 3rd time adopting for petsmart and they said sorry blah blah. please help?

My Lab puppy is 6 months old and in most aspects of training has been great-he walks well, sits at the road to cross and waits when you tell him but when we are playing fetch in the field and he spots another dog he just runs to them and no amount of shouting from me will stop him-he totally ignores me.
He wants to play with other dogs-not fight with them but not everyone wants their dog licked to death by a gawky Lab!
What can I do to get him to listen to me?He follows all my other commands it's just this one that I'm struggling with. It's making me nervous about letting him off the lead at all but he loves to have a good run-I'd just like him to come back! Thanks.

My Brother has a 1 year old Airedale and he had been running off all the time so they got him a underground fence, now he is destroying everything he can find. He chews on everything, digs, and rips stuff apart. We have given him bones, and a soccor ball, and a big (horse size) jolly ball to play with. They have helped but it really just seems like he only doing it to make my brother mad. Any tips?

My boyfriend and I bought a crate for each of them. Are we supposed to keep them in there all the time, even when we are home? Should we feed them in there? We had pee pads down for them, but decided to take them away because we don't want them to get used to going indoors. We take them out regularly to use the bathroom. We are having a tough time because we try to put them in there at night and they howl. However, we do not want them ruining our home by pooping and peeing everywhere. Does anyone have any suggestions? I know they are older dogs but they were never properly trained and we don't want them to ruin our house!!

I had my ball python (einstein) for just 4 months before he died. About 3-4 weeks afer I got him home he ate but didn't from then on but I read this was normal. I handled him every day and he was such a timid snake, I really grew attached to him! Anyway, one morning he wasn't moving and didnt move for about an hour and even during the day this was strange for him so i picked him up and he was dead. His neck and head were all out of place and the tail end of his body curled up. He liked to climb up to a ledge near the roof of his tank, is it possible he's fallen and broken his neck? The only other explanation I have is that the tank wasn't hot enough? Any ideas?

my dog started coughing a little yesterday and then had a fever so i took him to the vet, they tested him for some things but not distemper and basically said they thought that it was an intestinal problem cause he got into some of my food. He is 3yrs old and vaccinated for both parvo and distemper but i worry alot and I am wondering if its possible for a dog thats vaccinated to still get the virus?

our kitten is a feral cat who was domesticated and then adopted by my family. he now has the urge to go back outdoors and likes to try to get out the door when we put the dogs out. we want him to be a indoor cat as this is safer and better for his health. we need tips on how to train him to stay away from the doors so he won't try to go out them. can anyone help?

I have decided that I am going to get a pet. I am either getting a small dog or a cat from a local animal shelter. I will be getting a dog or a cat that is at least 2 years old as I do not want to have to train a puppy or kitten. I am a student that is gone about 10 hours a day. I have breaks throughout the day however when I could go home to let the dog out and play with him/her. I am finanially able to spend about $45 per month on the care of the animal and am ready for any emergency vet visits that may be needed. The dog will not be alone for more than 6 hours at a time without being let out and played with. If you think a dog might be good what breed would you recomend? I want something small that will not bark all day and annoy my neighbors.

this is weird, my two male cats must be nearly one now. they haven't had the op yet... don't worry i will be done soon.
however..you wouldnt know..they live together so you'd expect spraying, hissing fighting, territorial battles ect.
but they dont seem to do any of this...they play fight once a day. never hurt each other though its always really PLAY fighting. neither of the them has ever peed anywhere but their litter tray. And they DONT spray anywhere, believe me i know that smell and they just don't do it. they seem quite at ease with their sexuality...apart from mounting each other occasionally...they seem fine.

I'm getting them fixed just incase they ever get out but this is the only reason.. Whats going on with them?

why is this,

Yes, for those of you with the grossed out faces, dogs should have their anal glands drained. Anyways, I noticed my cat was scooting on the floor the other day like a dog with an itchy butt; which was quite amusing. Should it be ignored, should we take him in to get checked for something, or does his butt need to get drained???

We have an aquarium at the office that has had problems with the fish living very long.
We recently brought in a professional aquarium service and now the aquarium seems to be doing much better.
The guy who is maintaining our aquarium mentioned that the Redox was not good. He mentioned positive vs. negative Redox.
My question is can anyone tell me more about Redox in aquariums?
