I just went to Petsmart yesterday and saw this adorable kitten. Me and my dad applied for it. Today, about an hour ago, they called and said "Im sorry but we have had too many adoptions for this kitten" and it was long. She also considered something like a humane society. I live in shelby twp, michigan and i was wondering if there is any, or in sterling heights. BUT-- other than that, does Petco have a better chance of getting an animal??

And lastly, I hate pet adoptions. I wish i could just buy a kitten. But i cant. Does the humane society let you BUY or adopt?

Thank you for reading this =]

This is my 3rd time adopting for petsmart and they said sorry blah blah. please help?

PetSmart and PetCo do not sell puppies or kittens. They allow shelters and rescues to set up in their store to try and get their animals adopted.

If there are multiple applicants for an animal, the shelter/rescue is going to place the animal with the best fit FOR THE ANIMAL. It is not first come, first served. These are living creatures, not a pair of shoes that you can go out and buy then throw away if you don't like them once you get them home.

Shelters and rescues speak for those who do not have a voice of their own. They are going to do what's best for the animals in their care.

Petsmart doesn't adopt out pets. They rent space to different rescue organizations to adopt pets from. Whatever problem you are having, it's with the particular rescue group that is renting the space in that particular Petsmart.

The humane society does adoptions only. If you're getting a kitten what does it really matter that you aren't buying it? Buying a kitten from someone just supports back yard breeding. Adopting a kitten from the humane society or another rescue group saves that kitten from being put to sleep. Yes kittens ARE put to sleep quite regularly because there aren't homes for them.

If you keep being denied for a pet you might want to think about why that is. Some places won't adopt to you if you want to let your cat outdoors or want to declaw the cat. Some won't adopt to you if you already have a certain number of pets in your home. Some require you to have a certain level of income to assure that you can afford the cat. The local animal shelter usually has less strict restrictions than a rescue group does.

It is not clear what you are saying. That you adopted three times so they say you can't have any more pets from them? Or that you adopted three times and returned pets three times? Or that the kitten has been adopted out several times and for some reason is unadoptable?

There are lots of loose cats/kittens on the street. If you really want to help them, put out some food and water and soon you should have a friend. Also you could look in the newspaper ads for cat/kitten ads, they are in the paper all the time.

my guess is that you and your father are not meeting the adoption requirements that the rescue groups have set up. especially since this has happened more than once.

the other posters are right, petsmart and petco only rent out space to the rescue groups to bring animals in for adoption. the pets there are not affiliated with petsmart or pet co. at humane societies you still have to fill out adoption paper work and go through a screening process.

btw- teener hit the nail on the head.

Go to Bellweather Harbor in Fremont.. they are a wonderful rescue not too far from Shelby..
http://bellwetherharbor.org/index.htm

I went to rescues all over the muskegon area.. and most of them didn't even TALK to me.. I walked into Bellweather after a coworker mentioned it.. and they talked to me for about an hour after we looked at the dogs they had.. (and the cats because they were adorable) and after discussing it, none of the dogs they had would have fit into our life at that moment.. (all they had right then was puppies, BIG puppies.. lol.. ) but they got me in touch with someone who had the perfect dog.. They have a wonderful facility, they are a no kill shelter.. and the cats are played with and handled regularly. Most of the cats are not even caged, they are in a room with other cats..

I would suggest looking there..

maybe they really did have too many applications for said kitten or maybe you dont meet their adoption requirements.

even at the humane society, you still have to fill out adoption paperwork.

you hate pet adoptions? why, because you dont meet the requirements? grow up.
