I have never had a pet turtle before, and I have always been curious to whether or not they are affectionate. I have heard that they have pretty long life spans. I am just curious to hear from people that have pet turtles if they like to be stroked or talked to or givin attention, or for the most part are they just pets you take care of and watch? Don't worry I am not thinking about getting one. I am a cat person, like I said I am just very curious.

I have a tank with three female bettas. I've had this set-up for about three weeks now; they get along well; no stress stripes, minimal flaring... Everything seems great.

However, two of them suddenly stopped acting like themselves two days ago. They stopped eating, and while they are normally very active fish (swimming around all the time), now I usually find them resting together on the bottom of the tank. Today, both bettas started developing stress stripes.

I can't figure out what the problem could be. There have been no recent changes in the tank; no new fish, etc. The last partial water change was last Friday, and they were acting fine for a few days after that, so I don't think that is it. I changed the filter cartridge yesterday, but they stopped eating the day before this.

To be continued.

We had puppies (half Shih-Tzu) and there are four. They all have ears but it doesn't look like they have any holes for their ear canals. My mother has had tons of dogs throughout the years, and she said she's never seen something like this before. But, we have never had this breed of dog before. We didn't know if it was a characterstic and it was ok, like we just were missing something.
Any help would be great! The puppies are 3 days old by the way.

What issued would I have to deal with if I would buy a wolf to keep as a pet? It's not something that I am considering seriously at this point, but I was curious because I remember having a friend in my childhood who had a pet wolf. It was very friendly, but when I think back, it acted mostly depressed and just slept all day. And it was only 3 years old.

So, those who know, please list any issues that you can think of that I would be presented with if I were to buy a wolf as a pet. Legal issues, domestication issues, behavioral issues, insurance issues; any and all input is welcome.

Thank you!

When I put them back with the mom she attacked them. I grabed them up and took a minute and placed one of them near her and she attacked again. I have removed them and took them in the house. Is there any way to get them to smell like her again. I tried rubbing my hands on her then them. But she still attacked. There were 5 bunnies in the litter. I am afraid to mix the other 3 in with the two that she attacked. Is there anything I can do?? HELP!!

We have all had questions asked or answered here that blew us away. Some made us mad, some laugh, some cry and some were so stupid we scratched our heads. What was the one question/answer that sticks in your mind the most?

I have ten dogs and they follow me all the time and everywhere but thats not the problem the problem is that they cant be withought me if i enter to the bathroom they all start crying to go in the bathroom with me.
they sleep with me etc.
i work at home so most of the time i am with them
and whene i go out and dont take them with me they get depressed one time that i left them one week with a friend i found two of them sick they didnt want to eat so they got sick, and my chihuahua was so depressed that he didnt want to play or even walk and he gained 3lb. Idont want them to depend so much on me.
next year i am planing to go on vacations 1month and leave them on a pet hotel i know they will take good care from them but i dont want them to suffer to much when i am not with them because if they suffer i also suffer!

I absoulutely love pugs and puggles!!! I have to show my mom resposibility, which i have done for the past week and i have to go all the way up to Christmas. I had some behaviorul issues like talking back and being sassy, so now i decided i need to stop and take my parents out of there fuss over me! Part of the reason is that and also we have cats. Fighting cats towards each other. They're on and off. they only usually fight in the summer, there moods change like the seasons ( i hope they stop right after fall ends!). Anyways back to pugs and puggles. I really want one! Whcih one is better? which one is better with people and cats?? Experienced owners are specifally needed. Thanks soooo much!

A cat kind of adopted us a couple of years ago and I don't have a clue how old it is, but I also have a cat that is not even a year old and both of them have sagging stomachs. I feed them the wal-mart brand food and wondered if the kind of food they are eating is causing it. Anybody know what could be causing it?

We have two cats, one male and one female. they're from the same litter, so I don't think they will mate. But, I would like to breed my female cat, because she's mine and I would like to have the experience of seeing kitties be born.. I know the correct steps to care for kittens, I would give them away and if however many didn't get sold/given away, we would keep them. We would probably keep at least 1 or 2 anyway.
I was just wondering, do you think that it's wrong to breed your cat, if you're not a proffesional? If so, why??

Is this okay?"

"My daughter has a pet gerbil. We live up north, and recently it's been getting quite cold. Our heater is broken, and my daughter noticed the gerbil shivering. So she decided to put him in the microwave for a few seconds. I told her not to, but it was too late. When I opened the door, he had an enormous bulge in his side and was bleeding slightly. Will it heal?"

I got my kitten when she was 6 weeks old. Her mother had already stopped allowing the kittens to nurse. We noticed after the first week that she had started trying to nurse off my male cat, and he allowed it. Now she is 11 weeks old and still using him as a pacifier. His poor little nipples are getting red and chapped. is there a way to break her of this?

I always end up so scratched up when I do this (and I'm planning to start monthly baths to help with flea issues), and I'm afraid that if I use enough force to keep myself safe, I'll hurt her. I mean, she sounds like she's dyin' whenever I do it, and then she doesn't trust me for awhile...
Any advice?

I have been seeing a guy for a few months now. When I first met him he had 3 dogs, and 6 cats ( and 5 4 week old kittens). I noticed that the dogs weren't trained to use the bathroom outside, and you could never use a counter because the cats constantly jump up there. They have no rules.
A few months down the road, his room mates return from a trip and now they have 5 dogs, 10 cats and another litter of 5 kittens.
He hasn't taken any of them to the vet to get shots, the house floor is constantly covered in animal piss, and really they are just a bunch of hippies who refuse to believe that this is boarderline animal negligence.
I took one of his kittens home to try and help him get rid of a few of them, only for that kitten to give my other cat, roundworms, fleas, and earmites. After research, all of his other animals must have these too. 2 kittens also died from an URT Infection. How can I convince him to get rid of his cats? It's unhealthy for him and them.
