Feed her another cookie and don't worry about it. At sixty pounds she could eat several pounds of chocolate with no problem. In small dogs my boss does induce vomiting if they eat more than 3-4 candy bars. But other than listening to the heart, he doesn't do anything for large dogs unless they eat several pounds of the stuff. It doesn't really kill dogs that easily at all.

Your dog will be fine!my friend had a similar experience with her dog.Her dog pulled a bag of Hershey Kisses off of the table while she was out. She ate everything that was left in the bag, which was about 10 to 12 kisses left, wrappers and all. She did have loose poop for a day or two, but she was fine. We think she might have a little sweet tooth... Dogs should not have chocolate, however, dark chocolate is more toxic than semi-sweet or milk chocolates. A little bit will not hurt them. But try to keep the cookies up a little higher so they won't temp the puppy. hope i helped=))

I agree, it would take a large amount of chocolate to hurt a dog and it also depends on the type chocolate as well. Dark Chocolate contains a more concentrated toxic level than say milk chocolate. One of my dogs ate a bag of M&Ms and I went into a panic attack! I called the vet all shaken up thinking I needed to rush her to the nearst ER...nope. Its likely that just one cookie won't even upset her stomach. If it does...call the vet. If in the least bit of doubt, call the vet anyway. It's always better to be safe than sorry. =) Good luck!

one chocolate chip cookie won't hurt your dog. I had a St. Bernard that ate a whole tray of brownies off the counter. It never hurt him. I watched him like a hawk for 24 hours though just to make sure. And I was more careful about leaving anything on the counters after that too. Best wishes.

Listen...I have a 75 lbs rottweiler...I know chocolate isn't good for her and go out of my way to ensure that all chocolate based products are out of her reach.
I have had the unfortunate situation arise when she has gotten into chocolate chip cookies...she ate one of those soft baked individual serving packages...just fine...
Another time I got a frantic call from my room mate who left an unopened jar of Nutella on the counter...yeah- she grabbed it, cracked it open and proceeded to consume all 13 ounces...
...called the vet and the company and they determined that she would be fine.
The first moral of the story- one cookie will not hurt your 60 lbs dog...just make sure you have plenty of fresh water available and if you notice any change of behavior at all, take him/her to the ER immediately...but the likelihood of that is slim to none.
The second moral- keep chocolate, grapes, onions, garlic and dairy products out of reach (they all have the ability to make your dog extremely ill) of your dog's mouth.
Enjoy your evening and relax- they'll be just fine!

Your dog will be just fine. My 22lbs. Corgi ate all the chocolate out of the Easter baskets, including the foil, many years ago before I even knew about chocolate being harmful -she didn't vomit, have diarrhea or need any vet care. Don't worry, one cookie won't hurt her.

Just one cookie! Your dog will be fine. My dog had some M&M's that he ate. (I didn't give it to him. He went on the table and got into the bag while I was taking shower.) He was completely fine and he is only 15 pounds. Your dog will be fine. If it was a large amount of it then you should definetly worry.

Lucky dog. One cookie won'rt hurt it. I used to feel the dog chocolate all the time (a 15 lb poocle-husky mix) before they found out it wasn't a good idea. It never caused any problem. Just don't let it happen again.
Good luck!

Milk chocolate is toxic, but dark & semi sweet chocolate is VERY toxic. If your dog is acting normally with no vomitting, seizures, etc. it is probably o.k.
Just SURE the dog is not allowed to get ahold of anything like this again. This time it might be o.k., the next time it may not....

Feed her lots and lots of water and perhaps see a vet just in case. She will be fine but be more careful next time.
EDIT: Yo LO!: Im not too sure about that. It depends on the dog. If a chihuahua or a yorkie its 1 1/2 choco bar than it could harm them but if a pittbull or doberman eats a choco bar than its really nothing so you'd say it would take allot of choco to do harm to a large sized dog which the answer is clearly about. =)
