When I put them back with the mom she attacked them. I grabed them up and took a minute and placed one of them near her and she attacked again. I have removed them and took them in the house. Is there any way to get them to smell like her again. I tried rubbing my hands on her then them. But she still attacked. There were 5 bunnies in the litter. I am afraid to mix the other 3 in with the two that she attacked. Is there anything I can do?? HELP!!

yes there is something you can do i had the same problem and i called the vet.....there is another reason she might be doing this...she just might not want them...sometimes mothers do that...but if thats not the case then when you clean out the mother rabbits cage dont throw out the wood chip or shavings whatever you use and put them in the cage you are keeping the baby rabbits, put the cages next to each other and when the baby rabbits sleep or roll they will slowly start to smell like her this might take a while though or never so as a backup plan buy this special baby rabbit milk that they sell at the petstore ( or at most tpet stores) and mix it with water or whatever the directions are on there and feed them that

good luck!

It's more likely that she's attacking you and whatever you put in the cage rather than attacking he babies.

Have someone help you. First grab hold of the mother and control her first. Then stick the babies in and let the babies get situated. Once they are let go of the mother. Mother rabbits get tempermental when they have babies, but I seriously doubt she is rejecting them.

Most likely when you put your hand in their she is attacking your hand too. She just has increased hormone levels right now. Also, if the babies are too big and are pestering her to death regarding milking you probably should take the babies and separate the babies away from here. If the babies weigh over 3-4 pounds then I'd recommend separating the babies away from her. If the babies pester her too much for milk because they have been with her for too long she will run around the cage too much trying to get away from them and might up getting sore hocks as a result.

I would put a little vicks on the mommy's nose . The babies will take to her, and by the time the smell of the vicks wears off, they will smell like her again. Then she should be willing to let them back in the nest

It won't sound like fun, but if you can get fecal matter from her other babies, put it on the rejected babies. She's going by whether or not they smell like they've been consuming her milk, and that may do the trick. Not pleasant, but worth a try.

Good luck.

Put a drop of peppermint extract on her nose so she can't smell or rub molasses on everyone's noses and rumps so they all start licking eachother. She can't reject something THAT delicious!!!
