I have been seeing a guy for a few months now. When I first met him he had 3 dogs, and 6 cats ( and 5 4 week old kittens). I noticed that the dogs weren't trained to use the bathroom outside, and you could never use a counter because the cats constantly jump up there. They have no rules.
A few months down the road, his room mates return from a trip and now they have 5 dogs, 10 cats and another litter of 5 kittens.
He hasn't taken any of them to the vet to get shots, the house floor is constantly covered in animal piss, and really they are just a bunch of hippies who refuse to believe that this is boarderline animal negligence.
I took one of his kittens home to try and help him get rid of a few of them, only for that kitten to give my other cat, roundworms, fleas, and earmites. After research, all of his other animals must have these too. 2 kittens also died from an URT Infection. How can I convince him to get rid of his cats? It's unhealthy for him and them.

Call Animal Control or the SPCA. He's probably not only in violation of health codes, but also inviolation of animal ownership laws (many places have a limit on the number of adult animals you can have).

If his animals are dying because of neglect, the authorities need to be called, because if he's letting them die, you're not going to be able to convince him otherwise.

Well, put aside the fact that you've been seeing this guy, and contact the local Humane Society, or ASPCA, or whoever runs the Animal Control unit in your city.

They will come by, give him a warning, and check back in a few days/a week. If he fails to respect the basic expectations of being a pet owner, then he'll have to sign the animals over to the ACOs and may or may not have charges pressed against him, for animal neglect.

Sounds like they really need an authority to tell them what is going to happen.

That's like locking men and women up & torturing them - being OK, for the reason that the men and women were not going to quantity to a lot, besides. Animals all think ache (sure, even fish). Treating animals with appreciate is simply well karma (BTW - were you aware that almost all mass murderers - adding the two bozo's simply arrested because the "serial shooter" right here in phoneix) begin out through abusing/killing animals ?

Why do you continue to see such a creep?! He obviously doesn't care enough to do anything about the situation. And where was your brain when you took the kitten to your home? Knowing the situation the kitten came from, why didn't you isolate the kitten before introducing him/her to your older cat?

Are you people completely without any education at all?

DUH - call Animal Control and/or the Board of Health. These are certainly unhygienic living conditions for both people and animals.

Report him to the animal control people. That is animal abuse, pure and simple. Or, e-mail me his address, and if I am close enough, I'll make him take care of his pets, or find someone who will. Geez, Louise, having animal wastes in the house the way you describe isn't healthy for the animals, who have no say in their care. Screw the human's health, he made the choice, let his health not even be of any consideration, but the poor critters are captives, having no choice, and this is abuse!

this is bad! this is abuse!! any time an animal has been denied medical care and lives in filth then it is abuse. Call the humane society or an animal rescue group or even a no kill shelter and have the animals removed. Sounds like the kid needs some counseling as well.

Call animal control, they'll tell him. People like that have good intentions, but they are ruining the animals and not really helping them at all. I feel sorry for the poor animals!

you do not need him to know, that you are involved at way. you need to call the SPCA, they will take care of it, or give you a number to call. someone will come and take the animals from him and he will be fined. it is against the law to have that many animals under one roof. do something as soon as you can, it is a very sad story.

can you convince him to find homes for the other kittens? and get the mother spayed? this is abuse and deglect....worse to worse you will have to call spca (anonymously of course) on him, but i would hate to see all the animals put down it would be better to find homes for them of someone who would care properly for them...good luck i hope i helped
