i got some live plants for my 5gallon betta tank the other day .]
i got one small amazon sword
2 foxtail things
and one other small plant that is green and red.
i updated my lighting because the guy at my fish store said they would grow like crazy with the compact flourescant bulb (its ten watts) for my 5 gallon hex.

my bettas only tank mate is one snail.

do i need to add anything to make more carbon dioxide for my plants? or will they be fine?

29 gal tank (if this makes any difference)
1 black angelfish
1 black veil angelfish

both about 1-1.5 inches in size... how long will it take for them to reach max size

I have heard of romaine lettuce (which is in my tank right now), zucchini, spinach and brussel sprouts. I have also heard of green peas (without the shell) and broccoli also.

Has anyone else had any luck with some other type of vegetables? Some of my otos are looking pale and losing their color/stripe, they don't really go for the algae wafers, so I thought maybe some blanched veggies would be best.

I will be 16 in 1 week, I turn 16 on the 9th, and I LOVE animals. I want a job at a no kill animal shelter or something. But I have to buy everything for my dog and lizard, so I need to get paid. And so far, all the shelters etc only have volunteer positions. Nothing says apply for job or anything. I am in Dallas, TX. Please tell me if you know of a place that works with animals (if a shelter, only a no kill, I do now agree with shelters that euthanise animals, it would make me sick) I am not going to be picky with the amount of pay, I just need some money. THANK YOU

My dog is abou 6 weeks pregnant the other day she boo booed and there was mucus in her stool. Today when I went to give her a bath there was a red sack hanging from her private area I dont know if its hemrroids or something that would kill her. She acts as if it doesn't hurt her she rolls around and scoots on the floor.

I keep a 10 gallon tank with 4 guppies, 3 females and 1 male, 4 neon tetras and 2 black tetras. I recently noticed a problem with what appears to be ich, some of the fish have small white spots predominantly on their fins but some on their bodies aswell and some were thrashing their bodies off the gravel. I began dosing for this using Interpet Aquarium Treatment #6. I then began noticing some of the fish had become darkened around the body and mouth as if by ammonia burning. Having tested my water levels and finding them ok I don't know what's causing this. Also 1 of the female guppies appears to be heavily pregnant and her spine has become curved towards the end of her body, is this natural in the latter stages of pregnancy or is it a broken back from thrashing off the bottom? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

We've been going through a heat wave and we think she just gets hot at night. But she's getting our mom up at all hours to get a drink or to go outside. We'd put a water dish in the room but the poor thing has a bladder the size of a thimble, and she'd be up even more often then before.

Is there a sleeping medication for dogs out there our vet could subscribe for her?

it is floating on the top of the bowl and a part of its side or stomach is outside the water, I poked him lightly and he didn't move but his eyes are moving and he is breathing. I poked him again and he swam a bit but now he is back floating on his side. Could he be bloated? What do I do?

Okay, so we got our dog Pepper about eight or nine years ago through a bischon rescue. So we at least know he's a bischon but when they told us he's also part peekanise (have no idea how to spell that) we were pretty doubtful. Is there any way to find out for sure (just out of curiosity) what breeds our mutt is made up of?

he is a Labrador/ shih tzu mix and every single time i leave him in his room and walk down the hall to my room, he will bark soooo loudly and kinda hint that he is annoyed. he wont sleep in his own bed... he only wants to sleep in my bed. i mean i do treat him like hes one of the family, but how do i get him to realize that hes still a dog??

he is a little spoiled...

he sleeps in a human mattress in the shape of a bone
he eats in a human plate at the same dinner table as me at the same time
he wears clothes
he wears shoes
he uses a human toilet to go to the bathroom
he has his own rocking chair

and when i try to take the things away from him and have him realize hes a dog, he gets sooo defensive and he gets annoyed, and i love him so i dont like to see him like that but he gets so mad when i even leave him alone for two seconds.

WHAT CAN I DO??

i really need help!! is there some sort of medicine he can take?? or something?

I have 4 dogs. A Great Dane, 2 Rat Terriers and a Border Collie. The Great Dane has seperation anxiety and is deaf. He has to constantly be with me all the time and gets VERY anxious when I close doors on him (if I go outside, go to the bathroom etc..). I feel like my life has to revolve around him all the time. Its a relief when he's not here (at my moms house for instance). With my other dogs I don't feel as gulity leaving them for long periods of times (6-8 hours). I feel like I should rush home everyday from work to get back to him or not stay out late cause he'd be alone too long. I work 6 hour days so i'm not gone for very long. Am I the only one that feels this way? Gulity about leaving my dogs alone for too long or that they are bored all the time? Any idea's how to get over it or if I should? thanks

Hi, I have a rescue doggy who appears to be a black pomeranian crossbreed.
Should I get the groomer to cut his hair on his face, to look more like a pom? Do poms have to do this? Any suggestions? Here is Pikaboo's picture ;-)

okay, so i fed my ball python today and he ate some of the aspen bedding along with his dinner, and i had to pull some of it out of his mouth. is this going to make him sick? or will he just poop it out? if there is any left inside his mouth, will he get it out himself, or should i help him out some more?

My dog, a retriever/corgi mix wakes up almost every night making choking and hacking sounds. She roams the house, looking for house plants to eat, then usually throws up at the end of each bout.
The vet doesn't seem concerned and recommended giving the dog antacids! This happens way too often for it to be a stomachache!
Anyone have any tips or suggestions?
