it is floating on the top of the bowl and a part of its side or stomach is outside the water, I poked him lightly and he didn't move but his eyes are moving and he is breathing. I poked him again and he swam a bit but now he is back floating on his side. Could he be bloated? What do I do?

I saw this on Oprah.

You have to put about a tablespoon of pea juice in the tank.

It sounds weird but I swear it worked for me.

He May Die Sorry. But He Could Just Be Constipated Feed Him A Little Bit Of Weet-Bix And That Should Flush It All Out.

Your fish has a disease called "ICK". At this point I'm sorry for you. My kids watched one of their fish die by that disease it is VERY common in fish. Next time, assuming you get another fish have medicine on hand. You can buy it at any pet store.

He's sick and going to die. If you get a new fish, be sure to disinfect the tank really well. Sorry :o(
