I agree, and things like this shouldn't really be allowed to go on, but unfortunatly, too much politcs in the USA, if thats where you are like me, is ruled by money. Common sense makes little sense with dollars behind stupidity.
I myself am a big advocate of Arowana, a fish that grows to about 48 inches or larger with proper care. I might be slapped with this cruel label for keeping mine in a 180 gallon tank, but I mean at least I'm giving them 6 feet of swimming room. I simply don't have the space to give them an 8 or 10 foot tank. But they should be just fine as I've seen them in 125 doing wonderful.
Petland disounts, I buy some of my supplies there because it's on my route too and from work. They have been keeping some of thier smaller Arowana's in 20 gallon set ups, and I tried talking to the sales people. I was told they were directed by corporate officals to reserve thier bigger 125 gallon and 55 gallon show tanks for freaking KOI of all things!!
I find them keeping puffers and other koi and a brackish tank of smaller fish and putting an Arowana and some oscars in a 20 gallon tank. I was totally like WTF chuck? I fully intend to write thier corporate team about this logic. Though I think I'll probably be passed off as just anothe consumer, I am going to remind them that I've spent well over $5000 in thier store they run, and I can always take my money elsewhere if this kind of managing is what I can expect to see.

Good grief that is horrible! Just as bad as the idiots at other pet stores keeping Betta's in those tiny cups. They are all about the money, not about the care for the fish. Stores like this really get me going. They house sick fish together and they will sell you the fish anyway...why?? So you have to come back and get medication for the fish and that gives them more money. I could go on and on with my rant, but I won't. Just know you are not alone feeling like this. Poor fish!
