I live in the NEPA and I think we have mostly gardners (sp?) and black snakes. My kids were asking what they ate.

Garder snakes usually eat bugs....they are litte bitty snakes that don't usually get any bigger than 18 inches long. Black snakes eat anything small...mice, rats, chipmunks...etc...try this...http://www.fish.state.pa.us/factsnake.htm

we live in south central pa and have pretty much the same snakes....I grew up in NYS and used to catch Garter snakes to chase my sister around with them!!! have fun!

Garter snakes eat fish, small rodents, worms, eggs, slugs, leeches, frogs, toads, small lizards, and birds. Most species of garter eat mainly one type of food and will eat other foods when their main meal is unavailable (for example, a more aquatic species might eat mostly small fish, but would also eat a frog if it came across one).
The main diet of snakes in captivity is mice and rats, and in the wild most snakes eat small mammals, too. Some snakes, like kingsnakes, will eat other snakes, even venemous ones. I have a kingsnake that eats smaller snakes, mice, and lizards in captivity--snakes are his favorite.
Jessica C: Garter snakes can get up to five feet long, and they rarely eat bugs once they get past the hatchling stage.

It depends on the type of snake. The majority of snakes eat rodents. But others will eat:
insects (crickets, slugs, spiders)
worms
fish
other snakes
eggs
frogs/toads
lizards

they eat mice,fish,frogs. some snakes like garter and green snakes eat crickets worms and other insects. no snakes are vegetarians, they are strictly carnivorous.

little mice my best guy freinds ALWAYS had snakes and they wud purposely feed the snake the mice in my face! lol ew-ish but they always had these little white mice they got from the pet shop

pinky mice, fuzzy, then adult mice and rats, lizards insects some may eat crickets...
