he is a Labrador/ shih tzu mix and every single time i leave him in his room and walk down the hall to my room, he will bark soooo loudly and kinda hint that he is annoyed. he wont sleep in his own bed... he only wants to sleep in my bed. i mean i do treat him like hes one of the family, but how do i get him to realize that hes still a dog??

he is a little spoiled...

he sleeps in a human mattress in the shape of a bone
he eats in a human plate at the same dinner table as me at the same time
he wears clothes
he wears shoes
he uses a human toilet to go to the bathroom
he has his own rocking chair

and when i try to take the things away from him and have him realize hes a dog, he gets sooo defensive and he gets annoyed, and i love him so i dont like to see him like that but he gets so mad when i even leave him alone for two seconds.

WHAT CAN I DO??

i really need help!! is there some sort of medicine he can take?? or something?

I don't think there is so much a separation anxiety issue as there is a discipline issue. I don't believe he needs any meds, just some obedience training. It's time for you to show you are in control. It is okay to spoil him with nice beds and stuff but he also needs structure. Without a good leader he feels insecure and that is probably why he is showing "separation" anxiety. Dogs are like children, they will throw tantrums and manipulate you into giving them what they want. Check in your area for dog training. Be sure to get references.

We have shih-tzu that was raised around my semi trucks. He is ten and totally spoiled. If I go to a drive thru he barks for his beekstick. The employees there always give him one. Yep, he gets what he wants......always.
Spoiled? I,d spoil him all over again!
My wife says if he goes before me she,ll have to have me put to sleep!

You need to dominate him and show him your the pack leader. (Read Ceser) other than that ignore him. http://www.dogpsychologycenter.com/
If he is not barking for hours and tearing up your house then I wouldn't call it separation anxiety. Some vets to prescribe calming medicine for separation anxiety but from your description it sounds like the dog is just spoiled and you need to assert dominance.

Sorry girl but you have spoiled him and you are going to have to break him of some of these habits. If you need to get a dog trainer to help you do so.

LOL Let me know where to get that mattress! You are going to want to rub a familiar toy or blanket (something soft) on yourself and leave it for him when you are gone so he does not feel so 'lost' without you.

really the best thing to do is crate training.

dogs sleep in packs -- he sleeps in your bed because you are part of his accepted pack.
