I am moving to a different province in a month and I am wondering on some tips on moving my horse. It will be approximately a 7 hour drive maybe longer. I have never trailered a horse this far before and am wondering if anyone has any tips on making it easier for my horse (gus). Some people have told me to stop every couple of hours and take him out so he can move around a bit... others have told me to drug him! (which I will not do!!) He has trailered before for about 3 hours and was wonderful! Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!!

I have a gorgeous cockatiel and he's only in his cage to sleep and while I'm out of the house. If I'm away overnight he gets taken to my Mother's house. He's otherwise free to roam around the house at his leisure. I sometimes feel guilty about having him in a cage, but naturally, he needs the safety and security of a cage to sleep and eat in, but I make sure to give him lots of freedom and variety. Not just with birds, but with any kind of pet, why do some people not put the effort into treating them with the same respect and love that they would their own child. There are so many neglected animals in this world. If you can't look after a pet or can't afford to look after them properly, why get one? I don't get it. Why would you have a bird (or any other pet) in a cage just to look at? They should be part of your family and are a great source of enjoyment. Not just caged or tied up somewhere. What an awful life. Why do you think some people are like this?

A while ago, a guy in a fish store was telling me about a special freshwater aquarium gravel that eats bacteria like feces and regurgitated fish parts (which I always find hidden after my catfish barfs up half eaten feeders which causes fungus I just got done curing) and actively promotes a sanitary aquarium. Has anyone ever heard of such a gravel, or can suggest any brands that can do this type of thing?...Cosmetics are not an issue, optimal aquarium health is top priority.

I love Old English Sheepdogs- they're so adorable and my favorite breed. But I heard they are very suceptible to illnesses compared to other dogs. This is what my dad told me but he's basing that one sheepdog his friend owned who had kidney problems all the time no matter how much treatment and surgeries he got.

I have two Schnauzers and female is 3 month older than male dog. I often see that she kissing him when he sleeping or anytime when she get chances.

And I mean she licking his inside of his mouth with her tongue.

Have you seen? Does that mean she loves him? Or does he have some kind of smell she likes inside of his mouth? Very interesting.

I saw a dog the other day, that had a face of a pug (the smashed face) but it looked like a bulldog although it was the size of a cat. Can anyone tell me what kind of breed that might be? or even a cross breed. Like the schnoodle. or puggle.

she has been doing okay for the past few days. surgery was a week ago..and vet says to use a special cat litter during the first week. i changed the litter to the stuff i used prior to surgery..cuz i thought she was healed. she had no bleeding or scabbing or anything. well..today..after changing the litter she went in ..did her business and i didnt notice til a little while ago that she now had some bleeding on the pads of her feet and now she has the litter grains stuck in it. i dont know what to do? i already changed the litter back to the stuff recommended by the vet...apparently i needed to keep using it for longer then i thought. someone please help. i dont want her to get an infection.

We are very sorry for this so no rude comments please. Anyway the game warden came and said we would have to go to court. How much is the fine for this usually? By the way, we are planning on buying them a new dog even though this will not replace the old one.

I have had my ferret for a little over a year now. At first she only took things like pens and keys, but now she is trying to take everything that isnt nailes down. She has tried to take the dvd player, computer, even clothes. When I get the stuff back from her hiding spots she gets upset and does the ferrett war dance. I have checked on the internet and cant seem to find anything that explains why they have this behavior.

I need help from anyone whos in FFA or a vet or something. I have a suffolk ewe that is about 4 1/2 years old. A couple days ago she started lying in the barn and not getting up? At first she was moaning but that stopped......now she just lies there and wont even get up to eat. I mean she'll eat if you put it in front of her but she wont move. Today i even had to use a seringe to put water in her mouth so she wouldn't get dehidrated. I have given her 6cc of penacilan and some asprin but she still seems lazy. Her back foot is really swollen but doesn't seem to be broken or cut....Does anyone know what could be wrong w/ her.....Im having a vet come see her in a couple days but I want to know if theres anything I can do now....

I was at some stables the other day, and just like the time before, every time I went over to a horse, it would constantly try to nibble at me. I usually let the horse smell around to "familiarize," but it would eventually just reach over with its lips and teeth and go for my hand or jacket. It would move around if I tried to pet it and again try the nibbling. All the horses did this.
I seem to remember a time when horses I went up to didn't do that. What's going on?

We've tried anti itch creams ( she licks them off);she has brewers yeast and linatone added to her diet. She has large patches around her tail that go comepletely bald in the spring...she's a mix of border collie and australian shepherd. We've tried some many different things I am clueless as to how to proceed. And YES she's been to the vet so often for this problem I told them to install a revolving door in their office with all the money I've paid them.We are looking for any alternative forms of relief besides dipping her in mud 24/7. I say this because it seems to relieve some of her symptoms when she rolls in mud.

I have the sweetest little cat in the whole world. It may sound silly, but she comforts me when I'm feeling down. There are plenty of ways in which people spoil their dogs, but what can I do to spoil my cat? There are spas for dogs, bakeries, et cetera. What do you do for cats?

Is there another (american) name for it? Every time I search, I only find stuff in Portugese! Even Winipedia. My grasp of reading it is poor, all I understood was that its a large rodent that lives thru-out Brazil.
I would like facts, but in English. thanks. A link is fine.

I have an almost six month old chihuahua/yorkie mix and he has been doing really good with his potty training, that is until my boyfriend comes home from work...its like he forgets all about where he is suppose to go to the bathroom when he is home. Is he trying to mark his territory or what? My boyfriend is not a huge dog fan either so this whole still peeing all over the floor thing is starting to get on his nerves. If anyone could help me with this I would be very grateful and so would my boyfriend and my carpet. Also we have been really consistent with him and he is crate trained.
