I have an almost six month old chihuahua/yorkie mix and he has been doing really good with his potty training, that is until my boyfriend comes home from work...its like he forgets all about where he is suppose to go to the bathroom when he is home. Is he trying to mark his territory or what? My boyfriend is not a huge dog fan either so this whole still peeing all over the floor thing is starting to get on his nerves. If anyone could help me with this I would be very grateful and so would my boyfriend and my carpet. Also we have been really consistent with him and he is crate trained.

This isn't unusual, but it's not common either. He could be excited, but he could also be trying to assert dominance over your boyfriend.Your boyfriend needs to start greeting the dog outside, with the dog on a leash, and then your boyfriend walk the dog until he goes to the bathroom. Praise, then take him inside and let him off the leash. The dog needs to see that you and your boyfriend are king of the house, not the dog. Unless you fix this dominance issue, you'll have a year old non-housebroken chihuahua on your hands.

he could just be excited that your boyfriend has returned home..try taking him out right before your bf gets home and then like 10 min after he eats or drinks anything. try the puppy pads also...good luck

sounds like a basic puppy thing to me. it just takes patience. my pup is 1yr old and totally potty trained(so to speak), but when he gets over excited/ frightened he will pee on the floor, maybe your boyfriend startles him?

I've found that dogs are generally good judges of character. You might want to give that some thought...
