I have 2 yorkies. One I got in November, she is 1.5yrs. I have papers down for them at night time and when I am not at home. The first one always uses them without a problem. The 2nd one uses them occasionally but if we are at home will ask to go out. Now the problem is that she waits until night time to poo which she does on the mat inside the patio door. I also have couch just inside the door and unfortunately she has peed there a few times.
Any ideas how I can stop this behaviour? I was thinking of taking away the mat but she'd probaby just use the floor then. The couch is of course the big problem.

I've always wondered if my pets talk to eachother in English (but we can't understand them) like the baby does on Look who's talking! It's an interesting thought.

Heyz :)
I was wondering what kind of a horse would be good for beginners? I have ridden several horses before but I don't know which one is best. Here are more details: Maybe a good working-farm horse (like a drum horse) but one that can be easily ridden and later on good for breeding. I hope the horse breed will be a warm hearted one (I know all horses are and it depends on how they have been treated). Thx everyone :) Have fun answering :P

Is it true that being too close to dogs can make us contaminated with toxoplasm and rubella virus which is bad for baby, causing it to suffer from autism or born without skull?
Coz I have a friend who was very close to dogs when she's pregnant, now the baby is born dead without skull. The doctor said that the virus came from dog

Anyone has information about it and how to prevent this?

symptoms:
- many small patches as a result of loss of fur (about 1cm diametre) cover most of her body (where she can reach to scratch)
- itching
- bad smell

we took her to the vet already, they gave her some anti biotics which helped a little bit but not enough. they then gave her some quarterzone; this helped a bit, but once again wasn't good enough, and the condition came back worse tha never after that.

we have also tried washing regularly with dog shampoo.

the vet has only ruled out sub surface mites...

any help would be appreciated

Should I just ignore his howling and get him on a reg schedule feeding 3 times per day? Is he old enough to wait? Will he get sick if he doesn't eat in the middle of the night? I need my sleep! He is healthy and crate trained. He eats normally except for the late night hunger.

My puppy is 12 weeks old and totally out of control. She jumps, bites, yelps and eats everything in sight. I have tried a firm 'No' whenever she does something she shouldn't, I've tried squirting her with water and I've tried a shaker. Help!

I have 2 desexed male cats. My nearly 2 year old cat constantly urinates on clothes that are on the floor, or in the washing basket, he even has on our lounge! He uses the tray for his poo. How can I stop this from happening especailly cos we dont actually catch him. It is driving us mad. The younger cat does not have the same problem. It has been happening for a long time. Any advice on how we can stop this would be great. i do try to ensure that there is no clothes on teh floor, but it will be just about anywhere, in the back of my husbands work ute, on his work chairs and ropes. PLEASE HELP!!

We have noticed over the last month that Bonnie, our 13 year old pavement special dog, can just hear our whistling only - no response to voice calls and usual noises like door bells ect. There are no signs of any infection to her ears. I presume that it is a natural thing following her old age. Is there anything that can be done to possibly help increase her hearing ability?

I work at a dog rescue. We purchased dog beds for all of the dogs at our rescue. The problem we are having is we are constantly having to buy new beds because occassionaly a dog will pee on the bed and the inner stuffing then gets soaked with the urine. It is very difficult to then get the urine smell and stain out of the bed stuffing(some are cotton inside and some are cedar)The beds have covers with zippers on them to easily take off and wash but the urine seeps through the cover to the inside. We were thinking of making waterproof covers or liners that would stay on the cushion and then we could just take off and wash the outter covers they came with when needed with no worries about the inner "pillow"getting wet.Any ideas of what material to use and how to do this would be greatly appreciated. We are spending a fortune on dog beds. Thanks

I used to have a 150 gallon reef tank about 10 yrs ago and had metal halide's on it. anyways, my buddy is giving me a 50 gallon for free and i'm thinking of starting another reef tank now. the tank has a wet/dry that is built in to the back of the tank, and the tank doesn't have a hood, so i don't know how i'd mount metal halides on it. i guess my question is, 1) is there an advantage/disadvantage to having the built it wet/dry; and 2) it's been a long time for me, so what kind of lights could/should i use on this tank that would work without a hood on the tank?

I always thought he was a little heavy but I just bought a scale and he's indeed 20 lbs. Is this normal? (that's 80 quarter-pounders!) I don't want him to be overweight because I don't want him to have health problems.
