oh god your just like me. I have a 5 month old jack russell. He has barked most nights for about 3 months always at 1am, between 2-3 am and again at 5am. I thought it was my other jack russell bullying him. But when i went to see to him at night the other one was fast alseep. By going down to him at night when he barked. Showed him if he barkes i will appear. So what i found helpfull is taking them out for a walk before you go to bed. When you return from the walk put them in the garden for last wee and immediatly put them to bed. Always saying the same thing before you put them to bed i.e sleep time- good night. I do this so when he hears that word he knows its time for sleep and i wont be returing untill I choose. Also put a chew down with him so if he wakes up in middle of night and is boared he has something to ammuse him untill he falls asllep again. Always greet him excitedly in the morning followd by breakfast so he always gets used to you coming down in the morning with a hapy tone and food in the morning.

You can solve the problem by free feeding him .A lot of dog food companies recommend this and so do some vets as well. No he will not become sick .To solve the late night hunger you can feed i
him in his cage before you retire and leave it there in a container that want top over. Same is true with water attach to the cage.

8 week old anythings must have regular feedings, whether you need sleep or not. Small puppies can crash from blood sugar and die. Crying is not a punishment, it is a communication telling you it hurts, and it is up to you to get up and feed the tiny little puppy so he can sleep and grow, it will be soon enough that your dog will be on its own, it is your responsibility, your mom had to feed you every two hours for months, do the right thing.. feed the poor little puppy. it wont be long... what are you feed the puppy?

First, you may be feeding too much, if three times a day. Get him on a schedule, NOW. Yes, ignore the whining, he will soon learn that you are the boss, but puppies whine in the night for a while until they are accustomed to their new surroundings and you anyhow. You should follow the package directions for the weight of your dog as far as quantitiy of food. I would put the bowl down in the am, and if he eats it great, if not within 10 mins, pull the bowl up and do not put it down until the pm feeding. Same goes for the pm feeding. He needs to learn that you are making the schedule, not him. I know it sounds harsh, but you have to establish being the alpha dog, and the puppy will not starve, I promise!

He probably isnt even hungry, he is just wanting attention. I would say that the best thing to do is just ignore him and he will soon learn that no matter how much he barks, you wont simple hede to his every demand. It's hard to put up with, but if you get him into a regular routine it shouldn't be long before he sleep through the night without needing/wanting to feed

Feed it, then take it ouside so it can go potty, put it back in his cage (it all might take 10 minutes?) sleep for the rest of the night.
Some dogs/puppies do feed on a schedule, some just don't! It's not written in stone. You do what works best for the both of you!

Like Cagney said, toy breeds are prone to hypoglycemia,so I would feed the pup a small meal about an hour before bedtime(so you can let him go potty before bed),and leave a small amount of dry puupy food or a few puppy biscuits in his crate for him. That way,if he really is hungry,he won't wake you up,but he won't have an attack of hypoglycemia ,either.

I feed puppies 4 times per day until they are 12 weeks old. He may be needing another feeding, but don't do it during the night, as he will need to pee and poop shortly after he is fed. You don't want him on that schedule.
Just add one more feeding during the day.

if he is truely hungry and not just having to go potty you probably should go ahead and feed him. poms are very small and run the risk of having low blood sugar if they don't eat several small meals throughout the day. he will outgrow this, but at 8 weeks his is still just the size of some pocket lent. or you can ask your vet, they know of his medical condition and can better direct you as to what it might be exactly. good luck.

OK.. Try this... Every night before you go to bed, put out some dry food in a bowl straight after he's had his dinner. Go to sleep and if he howls at night, give him the bowl.
If it has been finished, soothe the puppy by petting him and speaking to him in soft calm, tones. Observe his reaction and DO NOT GIVE HIM ANYMORE FOOD. HE WILL BECOME EXTREMELY FAT. Hope I helped a little bit...
