Hi there...whenever cats mount one another this is exhibiting a dominance behaviour. Cats do this to establish hierarchy as the top/alpha cat. This is commonly witnessed in cat colonies as well as with exotic cats. Even neutered male cats will do this to one another.

1. Male cats don't experience heat. Only scenting a ready female will bring on a male cat's urge to breed.

2. Male cats sometimes seek dominance by mounting another male cat. It's unlikely that one would actually penetrate the other, but it's possible. This behavior, however, is not "gay"--homosexuality implies attraction and affection, not just penetration.

Dances with Unicorns and Iris are correct. To add to their comments, a male cat's penis actually has 'spurs' on it. Female cats hate it when male cats penetrate. They can only stand a male's 'spured' penis for short periods of time. Putting it in isn't the problem, it's pulling it out! Good Luck.

What you're seeing isn't sex - it's a battle for dominance. As for "in heat" - male cats don't go into heat - only females. Are you SURE you have two males????

Your cats are just practicing their dominance by playing around with each other.
