Is this not an early Cure song or lyric - 'All cats are grey', but not also is it not a biblical quote from Proverbes ie
When all candles bee out, all cats be gray.
Proverbes. Part i. Chap. v.
so it must be true..............

Mine looks black in the dark, my friends white cat looks, surprise surprise white! But all those midtone cats look grey. However all you really see are the bright green or yellow eyes. Like any colour the power is diminished by the lack of light and clarity. Just think about how difficult it is to decide what colour the car that just sped past splashing you! is.

Well, yeah I guess in the dark they all appear as slightly darker blurs in contrast to the background.

My new cat is black, but when she runs about (day or night) all you see is a streak of lightning, (if you see anything at all, she's that fast)

No. Actually you can't see what color they are in the dark... you just see their eyes.
