A fish is about as low maintenance as you can get. Maybe a hamster or a pet rat. You can take them out to play with them and put them up when you're done. Keep their cage clean and make sure they have food and fresh water. Not a lot of work.

All animals need/deserve to have quality time spent with them. You sound way too busy to be a "real" pet owner at this time. I suggest you buy SIMS – PETS or NINTENDO PUPPIES or some other virtual pet...these pets die or run away if not looked after properly eg: if not fed, walked, played with, bathed etc at the correct times. Within a few weeks, you will get an idea if you are suited as potential pet owner, without shelling out money and breaking the spirit of some poor pet.

If a fish is too much for you care for...sorry, but I can't think of anything else that would suit you at this time in your life other than a pet rock or other inanimate 'pet' object.
Yes, been there, done that as a student. Currently have college students as my own children. I know exactly how much time and effort you have to devote to an animal. How many other more important demands you have on your time.
Spend your time learning, socializing with humans, researching, etc. Don't try to be a primary caretaker for a living being at this time in your life. You have many, many years to devote yourself to caring for an animal after you graduate and start to establish yourself.
Enjoy your time now being footloose and free, not tied down to caring for another creature. Once you start having children...

Cats are very low maintenance. They don't mind being alone during the day as long as they have a window to peer out of and some warm light to sleep under.
Otherwise, go with a hamster.

I love my bunny rabbit! I'm a student as well, so I know what you mean about not being able to spend a lot of time with your pet. If you do go with a rabbit, allow it time to get exercise at least 1 hour daily. Other than that, maintenance is very minimal.

A cat! Go to a local shelter and pick out an older cat that needs a good home. Cats are very loyal and are low maintenance.

well if ur bored get a kitten, they're really playful! But they need a lot of care & attention & can't be left alone for too long!!
So maybe a smaller pet? if u don't have any time then stick with the fish!.. or maybe a smaller pet? idk.

Fish are one of the easiest pets to care for. If you got bored of it, maybe pets aren't for you at the moment. Maybe sea monkeys are for you :)

Definitely a GUINEA PIG. It's the most wonderful pet in a world and you don't need to waste much time on caring.

dogs need a lot of attention so i suggest getting a cat or a dog that doesn't require much attention which will be kinda hard. Cat's on the other hand just lay around the house all day and you feed them and that's it.
