No, this is not true. There's a fine line in the distance a cat can fall and safely land on their feet. If a cat falls from a height less then two feet it will not land on it's feet. This is because, in a short distance, the cat does not have time to realign it's body to the feet first position.

I did hear of a cat that broke it's back leg from falling
off the kitchen counter.

They don't always land on their feet, though they usually do when falling from a height.

Their excellent balance is due to an organ inside the inner ear which helps them calculate in which direction the ground lies.

When my cat had an inner-ear infection, he flipped completely over and landed on his back when he fell.

i visit respond to your question yet first I actual ought to assert that your buddy needs to be reported for animal cruelty - it isn't something short of torture to drop an animal from that correct! attempt to communicate them out of it - and in case you won't be able to then be human and humane and document them your self! to respond to your question cats are waiting to land on their ft on condition that they have got sufficient time to exhibit over interior the air. A cat that falls will rotate the front element of their body, and the hindquaters then save on with. something of the time that the cat is interior the air it truly is agreeable its body which facilitates it to soak up the impact from the eventual landing. A cat falling from a much better correct has extra time to realx, notwithstanding it remains a best marvel to the body to hit the floor at that speed. And no i did not drop a cat to discover this - I study plenty and characteristic seen photographic sequences of a cat being dropped from a small correct. in case you do a google search for you need to be able to discover examples as well.

Don't know if it is true or why is seems to be the case, but my my cat seems to whenever he falls. He falls a lot when he sleeps on the edge of stuff or rolls off stuff. It's funny. Or at least it is so far, since he has never gotten hurt.

Nope! Oreo has landed on his butt. Most of the time it's his feet but not always.

it is because they have superb sense of balance..

and they have flaps of skin between their legs which act as balancers...

try dropping a cat from a safe distance and se that they spread their legs wide... and land all on their four feet!
