Yesterday I found some blood in my hamsters's cage - but both of them don't have any wounds....... :( I don't know what it could be.. i mean they didn't fight because if they fought there would have be a wound on one of them..

they should be both females - even though i'm not sure because they are dwarf hamsters and with dwarf hamsters it is difficult to detrmine their sex.

It Okay! That normal. If you found no wound and they don't fight. That mean one thing.......HA! HA! you are going to be god father soon. They are having family planing. Same like human, when a woman did it for the first time she might bleed a little.....

if you notice a really bad smell or runny poop get straight to the pet store/ department and get medication for wet tail. Wet tail is fatal and it only takes a couple of days to claim a life. I have seen it far too many times working in a pet store. Also hold off on any fresh food for a week or 2 untill stools harden up. You can also feed them guinea pig pellets if they get wet tail instead of the hamster food for a week. This will also harden their stool. They will not eat very much. It is good to feed them only only guinea pig once a week too to prevent wet tail

How long have you had them? if it is under 3 weeks then you may have gotten a pregnant female. they can become pregnant at about 5 weeks. If they are scared or do not have enough protien, or if the babies are sick, deformed, injuured or still born the parents will eat them.

There is a chance you might have a male in there. The breeder is supposed to sex them and they are supposed to be checked again upon arrival in the pet store, wich in most cases due to lazyness does not happen

You cannot always see the wounds on hamsters because they have fur.
One of them may have lost a toe. My mice used to do that too each other once in a while

EDIT:
like I said you may have gotten a pregnant one. The males like to eat their own young ( don't think I mentioned it) but If you end up with un wanted babies you may be able to con ta pet store into taking them within the first few days of their life.

Keep a close eye out for Wet tail that I was talking about.

A lot, or a little blood ? Are they both females?
Or both males? I hate to think there were babies born
and ...
:-(
Cute, but they can be cruel.
Usually if there is not enough food, or room in the cage.
A jealous Male Hamster to, will do them harm.

Perhaps they need more fiber in their diet? maybe the blood came from one of their anus's because of a large bowel movement.

Also, if you put two boy hampsters together, they do anal rape each other . i am NOT joking. I used to own mice, and the boys would jump on each other and rape each other cause they didn't have any lady mice to get with.

So, you need to CLOSELY watch your hampsters and if they are raping each other and making each other bleed from the anus, then you NEED TO SEPERATE THEM!

or,If they are pooping out large bowel movements, then you need to give them more fiber!

Also, check around underneath the bedding and make sure there are no babies. just in case one is a girl and the other is a boy.

If you are still puzzled after closely monoriting them..Then ask a vet!

Good Luck.

if you see no wounds, maybe it was a small nick and it healed? otherwise take em back where you got them and let them check them out.
