We are taking our cat to the vet to be spade and we have to leave her overnight for one night. I am very worried about leaving her because she sleeps with us every night. She will be locked up in a cage all by herself. Do you think she knows we will come back for her? She will wake up in her cage so confused and afraid and lonely? I know she is an animal and not a person, but I am still overly worried about her.

We are new to raising hamsters so I don't have any idea what to look for. I am concerned about his biting my son. It wasn't a hard bite and I cleaned it and used neosporin.

I have a spotted green puffer, and i'm pretty sure he is dying. Two of my other fish in the tank had ick so i treated it, and it's still there. But my puffer was fine until yesterday night. He looks very sick. He can't use one side fin, and just floats w/ the water current, or sits on the bottom of the tank. I'm very worried about him. Any suggestions on how to get him better? or not let him die? would it help to put him in a seperate plase for awhile? any suggestion please.

Here are the additional specs on this critter...
1. It can't make employees or clients sneeze.
2. I'd prefer if it was an interesting pet.
3. I don't want to have to constantly clean up after it during work hours.
4. I want it to be able to run around the office.
5. I don't want a bird or fish.
6. Cute factor is important.
Thanks for your help everyone!

My 4 month old kitten likes to cuddle with us at night, but at around 4 or so she starts sucking on my husband's ear. She will suck on my finger, but she sucks the heck out of his ear. We think she may be teething. Any ideas?

my cat is a night owl. she sleeps all day long and comes out around 8 o'clock every night and disappears around 7 o'clock in the morning. i am 33 weeks pregnant and just set up a play yard in the living room. i put a cover over it hoping that my cat wouldn't climb in there to take her cat naps in it. well i keep on finding her there. i spray her with a water bottle and tell her no but she keeps on getting in it. i am scared to death that once the baby comes that she will work her way into the baby's bed and end up laying on him. is there anyway i can get her to become a "day" cat? or do you have any suggestions on what i should do?

I'm posting this question though it is pretty much rhetorical to me. After reading and responding to a crate training question I found I had more to say about it. I'm sure most owners have the best intentions when putting a dog in a crate, one even likened a puppy to a toddler to point out how such restraint is necessary. Restraint may be called for but there is a huge difference between sectioning off a portion of the home and a freakin' CAGE. Even in a playpen toddlers have much more room to roam compared to what dog's have in a crate. Confinement is required at times but there is absolutely no way I will accept that keeping a dog (especially an adult dog) in a crate for any extended length of time is good for the animal. I'd say 8 hours absolute MAX if completely necessary (such as going to work or what-not) is o.k. but anything from 8 hours on is straight up abuse. Like I've said before, if you want a caged animal get a hamster, gerbil, guinea pig or a bird.

A previous answer says not to feed rasins and grapes, amongst other things. Chocolate I understand, but not rasins. My collie absolutly loves almost any fruit or veg you care to name that she has tried - although she isn't always sure what to do with the grapes.

My cockatiel is 14 months old. The other day I accidentally closed the door with him sitting on top of it, and his whole crown was pulled out by the roots. He seems fine now. He looks a little funny. Will his crown grow back when he molts again, or will he always be bald?

My wife and I were wondering why he's barely eating his food, yet is taking massive, uh, "poops". Then this morning we noticed that we're re-filling the cat food bowl MUCH more frequently than usual. My wife suggested just feeding him cat food, but it seems that dog food is formulated specifically for dogs, and vise-versa.

Serious answers only, please. Answers such as "tape his snout shut", "a .30-06 from about 20 feet", or "fill his mouth with expanding foam insulation" won't help us much. Thanks.

I brought a Ramshorn snail for my fish tank today, and I’ve just been told that they are toxic when they die. (Would have been nice to know that BEFORE I brought it...)

I’m exceptionally fond of my fish who’s nearly 7 years old, and I don’t want anything to happen to it… so now I’m paranoid the snail is going to die.

How quickly do they become dangerous to fish?
I have a 15-liter, filtered tank with one largish, and one small fish in it.
