puppy help?

Question

what are some ways to potty train a puppy? any tips?? and names for female puppies? any recipes for homemade dog food?oh and how can chocolate be dangerous to dogs, not that i dare leaving it out for my puppy?

For the potty training: make sure to take the puppy out every couple of hours (depending on its size)... put a bell at the back door and everytime she rings it, take out immediately. That's how she'll learn to ring the bell when she's got to pee.
You can google home made dog food and maybe you'll find a recipe- I know that during the holidays I made dog treats in the shape of gingerbread men. My puppy loved them!
Chocolate, for whatever reason, is like poison to dogs. If yours ever eats any, feed her a little bit of hydrogen peroxide to make her throw up. If there are any symptoms of her still feeling sick, call your vet.

Crate training is the best way to train a puppy to be housebroken. They don't like to go where they sleep.

Take it outside every hour on the hour to potty. Give it 3 minutes to go. When it does, give it praise and a yummy treat. They will soon learn they can trade their poops and pees for a treat and/or some hugs.

Chocolate is toxic to dogs. It contains theobromine, a naturally occurring stimulant found in the cocoa bean. It increases urination and affects the central nervous system as well as heart muscle. While amounts vary by type of chocolate and the size of the dog, it is TOXIC and should never be given to a dog.

NO NO NO CHOCOLATE This is very harmful to dogs, as a ubove answer said this can kill a dog. One square from a bar of chocolate can contain enough harmful chemicals to kill a dog or if not it can cause kidney failure and damage to the organs....OK lecture over! lol
Well I had three puppy cavaliers in a one bedroom flat so we didnt have a garden and potty training was a task but I found the best way was paper training!
Everytime it seemed my dog was going to squat to do a wee or the other I would quickly Pick them up and say "Newspaper" And put them on the paper, Then when they did their bits on the paper I would Praise them.
I kept doing this till then they seemed to go to the paper theirselves! YEY! then comes the next stage.
When It seems the puppy has the hang of going on the paper you start to move the paper day by day closer to the door of your garden.
This is a long proscess but is handy if you have a garden next to where the puppy spends most of its time. Eventually the paper will be near the door and when you see your pup run over too it move towards him and open your garden door (Make sure there is a square of news paper in your garden and place your doggie on there.)
Fingers crossed your doggie will wee outside for the first time :)
Now do this for a few days and you may even see your pup sits by the door as if to say let me out.
When you are confident that he has the message remove all paper from inside and leave the sheet in the garden until the paper will become boring and your doggie will just wanna pee on the grass!
Obviously this would be a task if your door was like miles from your living room but this can still work once they get the hang of the paper always living in tiny places i never had that problem!)
This seems a long lenghtly way of doing things but all I can say is in 13 years of having dogs this worked for me!
I even managed to do it with three puppies in a flat where I had to run downstairs everytime! dammit I should be so skinny by now :(

You can make sure you watch your puppy 24/7 . Walk her often and tell her she is good when she goes potty outside. If she goes potty inside then make sure you tell her sternly but not loudly that she was bad. Make sure she knows what she did wrong by putting her nose close to what she did wrong.(if she went on the floor put her nose close to it and tell her "bad dog!") Arrabella is a favorite of mine. My sister wanted to call my dog Lucy. My dogs name is Augie. Like the cartoon dog Augie the Doggy. There is a recipie for homemade doggy buiscuts. I dont know it though (sorry! =( !) Chocolate can be very harmful to a puppy. Although , I had a dog who ate a whole bag of dove chocolates.She didnt die from the chocolates. She died of old age. My dog has eaten chocolate and the aluminum it came in ! she just got a tummy ache. make sure that if your puppy can jump up on a counter then she can't get to anything on the counter.

for the famale names, my fave is Cupcake, but there is also Prettygirl, Beauty, Honeybunny, Sweetpea. That's a few, and I just go ahead and get commercial dog food.
