Five minutes exercise for every month of age is a rough guideline for any breed, which means your pup should be having roughly 15 minutes exercise at a time. You will cause future problems if you exercise too much at a young age. Your puppy also needs mental exercise, so you can also use training to wear her out - say 5- 10 minutes at a time.

I remember reading in a book (well it was a Boxer book), that the rule of thumb is to only force walk the dog 5 minutes for every month of age. So you can only force walk your dog for about 15 minutes. As for running, don't do it until they are older (at least 1 year old) since it could cause hip dylapsia. Since your dog is high energy, let it play in the backyard and stuff, the way it wants to. Just don't force walk it too much.

Too much exercise too early is dangerous for the long term health of the dog's body. If possible, you might look into swimming your dog as that is very tiring but is not as stressful to the joints as other forms of exercise.
Also, keep in mind that simply physical exercise is not as tiring as physical and mental exercise combined. So work on teaching your dog tricks, make him think! I like the book 101 things to do with a box. It uses clicker training to shape behavior and forces the DOG to come up with the offered behavior. It's a great way to mentally exercise your dog and a lot of fun!

Too much exercise on a large breed pup at too young an age can cause joint pain and other complications. Take the vets advice, that's why they have a degree. Why have a vet you don't trust? If you don't trust that vet, take it to another one for a second opinion.

You will damage the joints if you keep it up. This is a dog too young for extensive workouts. Pace the pup and allow most of its exercises to be in play. Arthritis will cause you both a lot of pain and heartache if you over stress the joints. Not until one year should you be working it hard.

Aslong as you aren't exercising so that's it's losing weight, then
I', sure it's ok. If your dog is still active after exercise, then It needs more.
