Well DO NOT waste your money on flea collars or store bought flea med's for the cat you do not need to see a vet all you have to do is go to a pet store or walk in to any vets office and ask to buy front line it will cost a little more at a pet store than a vets office flea collars only keep the fleas off where the collar is they are no good. flea meds that you buy at local stores are watered down front line is the best and it works as far as your house goes you can go to any local store that sells pet products (walmart) and buy flea bombs and bomb your house you will have to leave your house with all your pets for 2-6 hours depending on witch bomb you buy. Hope this Helps its what i had to do over the summer.

Take the collar off of the cat (there have been deaths from flea collars in cats)and go to the pet store and pick up a flea product called "Advantage" or better yet "Frontline for Cats". You apply it between the cats shoulders in the back directly on the skin and it lasts between 30 and 90 days for most cats. Your cat will be flea free in 24 hours after the application.

I have had my fair share dealing with Flea's. They are hard to get rid of, from my own experiecnce. Once they are off the cat they don't stay too long. What you really need to do is give your cat a flea bath and maybe pick up some advange or some kind of flea controler that you would put on their shoulder blade then on down their back. I know that you can find some flea killers at wal-mart as well as flea bath, and they aren't that expersive. When the cats is all clear free you really need to bom your home with a bug killer. That will kill all the fleas inside the home.
Really, a flea coller does no more than keeping the fleas from biting the cats/dogs face and neck. Fleas are not anymore comforatable for cats/dogs as they are not for humans they are miserable having fleas.
My cat had them and she was pulling out her fur it was so bad. We got rid of them and she hasn't had them since. Also if your cat is an indoor/outdoor cat try to keep them inside during the flea season.

You could use a flea bomb but then you and your kitty would have to leave your house for a few hours. There's also powders you can buy to put on your carpet. You let it sit for a little while then sweep it up. But then you would have to make sure your kitty wouldn't get into it before you swept. The best thing you can do is take her to the vet as soon as possible. They will probably give you Advantage or Frontline. Don't bother with the collar or any sprays or powder to put on her that you can get from the store; they don't work and if she licks it off while she's cleaning herself, it'll make her sick. I never heard anything about Tide helping. I would imagine it would make her sick. Just take her to the vet ASAP. That would be best for her.

Frontline works great, I use it on both of mine once a month between their shoulder blades where they can't reach to lick it off. It's not cheap but it really works.
To get rid of fleas already in your house, first make sure all people and animals are out of the house for a few hours, and then use a flea bomb, those work really well too. It will say on the can how many you'll need for the number of rooms you have, and how long you need to stay out of the house. When you come back, you should also wash all your bedding and do a good vacuuming. Good luck!

A collar will not do anything once you have an infestation. You must treat the house and the cat at the same time-repeating this process in 2 to 3 weeks-to get any new fleas that hatched out from eggs not able to be killed. You need to bomb your house and take your cat to the vet to be bathed. The dead fleas should be removed from her as they carry viable eggs.

Frontline isn't a stress field, so if there are fleas interior the area, there will be fleas on the cat which you will see whilst they bounce on the cat, yet till now they die. There are some reasons Frontline will possibly no longer artwork even with the indisputable fact that. while you're bathing them, which isn't pronounced, and employing Frontline precise after, it won't artwork. Bathing strips the floor's organic oils, and it is how Frontline travels over the physique. additionally, many products offered on line and in puppy furnish shops are counterfeit. verify you're buying it out of your vet. to handle your place, you could decrease up a flea collar and positioned it in an empty vacuum bag, then vacuum the heck out of your place for a week. do no longer ignore to do furnishings and mattresses too. Wash and dry all bedding and garments interior the maximum popular settings secure for the textile.

i heard those collars are bad for cats themselves not just for the fleas. I would take it off of her. Maybe u can call ur vet & ask for free advice? Also, becareful when u buy stuff at the store bc i heard of some stuff that only harms the cat. But i do know that the fleas spread quickly & it's really, really tough to get rid of them. i heard ppl had to get rid of their carpets n vacuum/clean EVERYWHERE around ur house, esp the small cracks where ur cat hangs out & if u have wooden floors too. You will have to clean a lot & get rid of some things. But if it's not that serious yet try to get rid of the fleas from her asap.
Try these...
first site - flea med
sec site - advice on how to get rid of'em!
third & 4th - just more info.
Good luck.

Feed your cat garlic oil and wheat germ. Just a drop and 1/8 tsp. in her food every day will keep the fleas off. Shampoo the cat (good luck!) with any gentel flea shampoo, on the shelf. Now to get rid of the ones you have: Go to your local nursery and find a bag of Diamatious earth. Not the stuff they use in the pool, this is actual dust, grey in color, fine like talc. Wear a filtered dust mask and Sprinkle this powder over your carpets, sweep it in, and leave it to set over night. Next day vacume it up. Until you shampoo the carpets, you will never have another bug that crawls in your house, live longer than 24 hours, including fleas, ticks, and cockroaches! This has worked for me in many homes, city and country. No bugs, regardless of the number of pets.

You can buy drops that you put behind the cat's ear (on the nape of it's neck). Depending on the brand, they kill fleas and any intestinal worms also.
Forget about any paste or collar, cats usually hate flea collars and remove them themselves rapidly and the paste is simply a waste of time.
