I have 2 yorkies. One I got in November, she is 1.5yrs. I have papers down for them at night time and when I am not at home. The first one always uses them without a problem. The 2nd one uses them occasionally but if we are at home will ask to go out. Now the problem is that she waits until night time to poo which she does on the mat inside the patio door. I also have couch just inside the door and unfortunately she has peed there a few times.
Any ideas how I can stop this behaviour? I was thinking of taking away the mat but she'd probaby just use the floor then. The couch is of course the big problem.

Dogs usually need the loo about 20 mins and again 16 hours after their main meal, so time when you feed them.
Also, you need a more consistant routine. Make an area for a dog loo in your garden, mark it with bricks or planks. Take your dogs there on the lead., wait with them and praise them when they go. Do this every two hours for a couple of weeks, they need to know where you WANT them to go!
When they get the idea, they'll know that thats the spot you want them to use and it will cut soen the accidents.
Ignore an in the house, never punishg a dog for going at the 'wrong' time or in the wrong place, it only confuses them and makes them do it when you're not there or behind the furniture.

the type you worded your question is the type you spot with trolling... yet notwithstanding, right this is a available answer... You settlement your abdomen muscular tissues once you're taking a sh!t. So the stress on your abdomen is going up and it forces the two sh!t and pee out on a similar time. additionally, you relax your pelvic floor muscular tissues on a similar time once you're taking a sh!t (something that the parasympathetic apprehensive device does -- look it up), so something that's relatively clamping any orifice down there gets loosened, so which you pee once you're taking a sh!t. the alternative is real once you purely attempt to take a piss (in spite of the undeniable fact that each and every so often there are some unlucky people who launch from the returned door on a similar time as properly). you purely ought to relax your urethral sphincter once you are trying this. you do no longer ought to settlement your abdomen muscular tissues anymore because of the fact your bladder partitions have particular muscular tissues that squeeze pee out of your bladder once you pee. as a result you do no longer sh!t once you purely opt to pee.

Paper training a dog to go poo and pee indoors is like an open invitation to allow them to use the house for their bathroom. Dogs are clean animals by nature, and do not like to use the potty in the same area they live, but if they are given no other alternative, they will do what they have to do. I have raised dogs for years. I always started out new pups by taking them outside every 2 hours, telling them "let's go POTTY" every time. As they got older, I extended the time between taking them out. I now have an 11 year old dog who will actually wake me up to let her go out if I sleep in late. She will not go potty in the house unless she is left for greater than 10 hours alone, and then she always goes to the same spot, and never soils the furniture. I can ask her if she wants to go potty, and if she does, she'll jump up and head for the door. If she doesn't need to, she just looks at me and keeps doing what she was doing. Her grandmother would actually jump into the tub to potty if she was left home alone too long! It may be time consuming to teach a dog to go outside, but well worth it in the end. My sister in law tried the paper method, and ruined $9000.00 worth of carpet. I always take my dogs out right before my bedtime, and remember, it generally takes a male longer to take care of his business, so they stay out for about 20 minutes. Then I take them back out first thing in the morning. I'll stick with the "let's go potty" routine. It's worked well for over 15 years.

you can litter train dogs like you do cats except the dogs dont bury it. You can probaly get away with a larger size cat pan, uncovered. Use pine PELLET litter. not shavings. Or better yet use that recycled paper litter pellet stuff. I think it is called YESTERDAY'S NEWS. Put the litter box where your dog usually goes. You may have to stay up late a few nights to catch her in the act and show her to go into the litter box.

Take the dogs for a walk last thing at night, so they can do their business.

Also if you are using amonium based cleaning fluid to clean the coutch this smell will make the dog think this is an ok place to pee.

It's very hard to housebreak Yorkies, particularly with peeing. As a breed, they have very weak bladders. I wouldn't recommend a dog flap, as Yorkies are small enough to be vulnerable to birds of prey and other predators (my neighbor breeds Yorkies and lost two to hawks last year).

Have you tried crating her at night? The crate needs to be large enough that she can turn around and lie down comfortably, but not so large that she can soil in one corner of the crate and lie down someplace else.

Good luck!

I would suggest crating the dog in a kennel while you're not at home - dogs don't mind this, because a kennel becomes their "den". Also, dogs do not like to go to the bathroom where they sleep, so she'll be less likely to go in there. This sounds like it might just be separation anxiety, and the crate can really help with that by establishing a routine for her so that she goes out when you get home.

Start feeding your dogs in the morning when your at home and can let them out to poop... As for the peeing, remove the water before you last let them out and give them an ice cube only to suck on.. It wont kill them and may help with the problem. You have nothing to lose..

Good luck
