I found a poor chap straying in a village and although he seems to belong to someone, he appears to be terribly neglected. His backlegs are weak, he has an old injury and limps. He seems to be very old.
I am thinking of "borrowing" him and finding him a good home. I can't see how the owners can care for him. He is in a terrible state. And as they let him stray anyway, they seem like the sort of people who don't care if he gets run over or causes an accident.
I would be grateful for some comments on this.
It makes my heart bleed to see a dog in such a state. The RSPCA in this area doesn't do much.

Why do people say things like "oh no chocolate wont hurt your dog" or "neuter your cat/dog at 2 months old" when anyone with any vet knowledge knows not to? I think if you dont absolutely know from personal experience or from doing research you shouldn't give advice that could possibly hurt the animals in question. The people asking the questions want real answers not just your guess.

Does a dog know when your sad? If they do know when your sad, how do they know and how can they tell? I have a 5 year old female West Highland White Terrier and she came up to me when I was sad and started licking me, had me rub and belly, and rubbed herself up against my legs.

I have a shih-tzu and she has always been the best, but ever since we moved and then went out of state she have been pooping in our beds or couches.. but you see she always used to go to pee and poop in a bin and now she only wants to pee in it and wants to poop else where what can i do ? HELP me, my neon fish is missing. I can't find it anywhere. I had three neon fish, one beta, one balloon fish, one angel fish. could one of these fish eat my neon fish??? I looked everywhere in the tank, filter, under the rocks, but no trace of it.. what happened???

A male betta I bought yesterday is keeping his top fin very close to his body, or just letting it hang. (he's not acting sick in any other way, he's doing well). His fins are very very large; larger than any of the other bettas I saw, and the water in the container he was kept in at the store didn't look deep enough for his large fins. Do you think he'll eventually spread out/up and enjoy the roominess of the 3-gal I have him in now, or has he been stunted forever by the tiny tub?
Do you guys who have also bought bettas from petstores find that your bettas act like they're still in cramped conditions, or do they get over it? I feel like his top fin is a little broken or atrophied arm that he can't extend. =( He looks so sad!

I have a labrador retriever and while I was outside, she got into some chocolate that was hidden in my room. It was a tube of the small reese cups. I'm guessing there must have been at least 15 of them. She ate the whole thing, including the plastic. Its been about 2 hours and she doesn't seem to be sick...I'm scared that it might kill her? She's 10 years old...and has eaten all sorts of things including a pack of tea light candles..and has never bothered her.

I bought a bed type thing from costco that fits perfectly into her dog house, however when I wake up in the morning I find it on the lawn will holes in it. I know she has been chewing on it because there is cotton on her snout. She does not like sleeping inside the house, so to make her more comfortable I bought the bed. Any ideas to keep her from chewing up her bed?

My dog seems to itch constantly and the RX pills he has taken only work until they are gone. Then he is itchy again. He bites until there are scabs. My vet suggested IVD-a perscription diet food-to help with the itching. Has anyone else done this for their dog? What were the results?

My neighbor says my dog has been killing their chickens, they couldnt offer any eye witness proof, they just "know it was mine"

However they did see my dog eating their cats food that they put outside...who leaves cat food outside, we have bears, squirrels, raccoons, coyotes, and every person around has a dog or more than 1.
I am going to start tying my dog up now, but the fact I just spent 30 mins in the freezing cold thinking about this while I built my dog a track system for her rope so she can move around the yard still... made me kinda think that its not only my dog, but they think it is, just cuz they seen her in their yard yesterday.They said its been going on for months, but didnt say anything to me until yesterday?
