First of all do not use the world NO. Puppies will hear it a lot an not understand what they may be doing wrong. Find something else to say like uhuh or try the word no in another language like german which is nein, or russian which is geen, or even norweigen which is ingen. They key is to be consistent. You do not have to hit your dog with anything to get them to behave.
Secondly, you need to take the dog and yourself to obedience classes. He will want to please you and be rewarded and therefore he will quickly learn what is and isn't acceptable. Obendience class will also give him a chance to socialize with other humans and dogs.
Lastly, chew toys are very important for at least the first year as dogs teeth just like humans. They will lose baby teeth and gain adult teeth. Chewing also helps them to keep their teeth clean and healthy.
Good luck.

Puppies at that age bite because they're just in a oral-learning stage, like what human children go through. Everything goes in the mouth! He needs to learn what's okay to bite and chew and what's not.
We trained ours not to bite by making a sharp, loud noise whenever her teeth made contact with our skin and immediately turning away and leaving. She learned very quickly. Puppies crave your attention more than anything so shower your pup with petting and playing when he's not biting and immediately end the game and walk away when his teeth hit your skin. It's okay if he follows you, but ignore him for a while. There's no need to hit him or yell at him. Negative attention is still attention and ignoring him will change his behavior more quickly.
Also, make sure he does have plenty of chew toys because he *needs* to chew. Just not on you. :)
Good luck!

he is teething and you should expect it getting worse from now on until he is about 6-7 months old. i am having a 13 week old lab puppy and going thru the same thing. try giving him a lot of chew toys, puppies have really shot attention span and thus they will easily get bored with chewing just 1 or 2 or even 3 chew toys. get him more, change his chew toy every 15 min or when you think he started to get bored with it, and then also rotate them every few days. another method is to get a wet towel and freeze it, it will help soothing the sore gum and teeth. when you say NO to him when he is chewing things that he shouldn't be chewing, does he not chew right away? if so, praise and treat him. or when you see him chewing things you don't want him to chew, give him his chew toy and if he chews his toy, praise him. this is tough but that's how puppies are like. even for human babies, they go thru teething stage too. be patient and good luck!

This is extremely normal behavior for a puppy that age.
When he bites your hand say "OW, NO", in a deep and loud voice and pull your hand away, stop playing for 10 seconds.
Sometimes you have to do it over and over but puppies want to play and if they bite too hard and then don't get to play right after it he should learn to bite much softer. You may have to hold your puppy to keep it from coming after you to play, that's ok.
Just take away the play when he bites too hard, then resume.
He will learn pretty quick that too hard means no play and he'll do it softer for you.
I have puppies and the technique works very well.

He may grow out of this, if he's a puppy, he might be teething. Get him some toys, and when he bites or tries to bite you, use your hand and close his mouth (just grab his muzzle) look him in the eyes and say "NO" in a stern voice. Soon, he'll learn. Dogs hate having their muzzle closed and to be looked in the eye. That will cure almost any bad habit that they come up with. I have a 3 year Golden Retriever, and this has broken him of many habits!

Is he BITING? Or is he TEETHING? There's a big difference.
If he is being vicious, simple socialization with people will help.
Either way, a good idea is to buy him a chew toy and teach him to play fetch, also more exersize will take care of him being bored and nibbling you for attention. Fetch can take care of both of those. = )
Get two balls, throw one. When your beagle bounds after it, get his ATTENTION with the second ball.
WAIT untill he drops the first one, then throw the second. Eventually he will simply drop the first ball expecting you to throw it again and tada, you have a great way to play and exersize your pet.
Walk him and show him off to friends/people so he is used to other people and situations. Both of these things will help stop your problem.

We dog owners call it "mouthing" because biting is vicious and mouthing is just explorational.
This worked really well for me, starting from day one because even if he is teething and in pain, some guests will not like it and therefore it should be considered unacceptable behavior from day one. Every time he mouths you, just remove your hand from his mouth and use your hand to hold his mouth closed for a few seconds. For some reason, this method is slightly controversial, however I found it to be very succesful. Mother dogs mouth their puppies muzzle area to let them know early on what is unacceptable behavior, so not only are you using dog communication to let them know this is unacceptable, but for that second you are also preventing them from mouthing you. If you do it a couple times in a row, they will catch on pretty quickly.

Beagle need to use their teeth. Try giving him chew toys. We gave our beagles pieces of wood sometimes. If the dog is biting you, a rolled up newspaper to the nose helps. Try obedience class, too.

Buy him several different toys....even puppy rawhide, it helps dual the teeth down a little.
Also, keep a spray bottle where ever you go in your home and every time he barks, squirt him on his face (like between his eyes or on his forehead) to start training him for every time he barks he gets water in the face. It works, trust me!

every time he bites (which is totally normal for any pup) say 'NO" in a stern voice and then give him something he can bite, like a really awesome chew toy ;) works like a charm as long as you are consistant!
