Not at all. Used to help in cat shelter & it takes around 3 months after op for hormones to totally settle but it actually calms them down. If someone else says their cat became aggressive then it was due to some other cause and not the neutering.Neutering also helps stop them wandering, they get into less fights and generally live longer & healthier lives than those cats who are not done. Also one male cat can be responsible for thousands of kittens in his lifetime, kittens which may not get a loving caring home like your cat so its definately worth doing.

I've had several cats neutered, and known people with neutered cats also. Never heard of or experienced that before. Usually if anything a male cat might get a bit lazy and fat and placid!

A cat that's a bit overactive may be calmed down a bit by neutering.

Otherwise, they'll be the same as they were before, minus a few things. The idea that they'll become fat and lazy isn't necessarily true. They're as fat and lazy as you allow them to be.

My kitten was just neutered about a month ago and there was no changes in his personality. He is the same as before.

I wouldn't worry about it, it must be done and if he has a good personality and not vicious now then he won't change into that.

My indoor cat was beginning to get agressive before he was neutered.

After getting it done he calmed down a great deal. He's just as friendly as before, but now he no longer bites and he's better mannered.

Neutering doesn't make a cat turn vicious. If the friend's cat turned vicious, something else is going on.

Go ahead and get it done, and stop worrying! :-)

My cat was fine afterward, no change really. He is a very happy, lively cat. I heard it is good for boy cats because they are not as moody and domineering afterward.

Your Billy will be fine and happier, more content and live longer as a result of this operation.

I've never heard of that, its usually the other way around! It calms them down and they live longer, because they stray less.
Maybe someone didn't handle him correctly after surgery when he was sore?

no mainly they stay the same or they calm down.

i have never heard of one turning nasty from this operation.
my cat Shelley has always been a bit nasty he stayed the same.
if your cat isnt nasty i doubt it will change his personality in a bad way or vets wouldnt recomend it.
