We just got Dakota (a 7yr old collie) about 4 days ago from my brother, who got it from another guy, a few days earlier..... Anyway my brother had no idea what he was feeding him, he has bad teeth and he wouldn't eat dry food so I started him on pedigree canned food, now he is sick with diahreia. I am wondering if he will adjust to the new food, if so about how long does it take?

My Bichon is 7 months old and I was wondering when/if her hair was going to get curly like the other older Bichon's I've seen. I love her straight fluffy hair but know one day it will all be gone, and was curious as to when that happens. I figured it would have happened by now. Anyone have a bichon and remember when their baby got curly hair?

She is 3 years old and spayed. She takes spells losing weight (once she got so skinny I was afraid someone was going to call the Humane Society on us). But then she gains it back and gets fat again. I took her to the vet about it but he just said in the summer, cats will lose weight and look smaller also due to loss of their winter coat. But she started losing again and it's winter. She hates to go the vet and only goes for shots once a year(they don't even take her out of her carrier). the vet gives me wormer to use at home. So unless she could be really sick, I don't want to take her. What are some diseases she might have or is it just normal for her?

The chihuahua has used puppy pads for two years and I wonder if it is too late to train her to use it outside.

She is from a strong line. X-rays show perfect hips and elbows. Limps most of the time. The limp sometimes changes form right to left back leg. Vets ruled out dysplasia and D-pano. What else can it be?

I live in Ottawa, Canada and it gets well below freezing here, with snow and ice. Yet I see little birds hopping and flitting around, apparently not caring that it's cold. They're scarcely bigger than a golf ball - how do they stay warm?

I just found this kitten two days ago and brought it home, it is a wild kitten, with no home. The mother was taken to the SPCA. the kitten is old enough to eat dry cat food and is a boy, from what I can tell. Unfortanely I cannot RUSH my kitten to the vet right now since I am working and just found it two days ago when the vet's offices are closed. I apologize for not adding all this details in the earlier message. She has been eating some dry cat food and some cat's milk over the counter milk. I plan on taking her to the vet this evening hopefully!! The kitten has not gone to the bathroom since I have had it in my eyesite and my care. THank you for all the answers and I thought that it might have worms. The kitten hopefully is not pregnant. I plan on getting it spayed or nuetered and finding out more info this evening or this week! Thanks!

i just got a 6 1/2 week puppy half pitbull half german shepard...and he's already nipping quite a bit is he too young to understand for me to train him not to? he's pretty smart and already basically knows that outside is where he goes to the bathroom. everytime he nips. i hold his mouth shut and tap him on the nose and say no...but he just tries to nip me again right away...this wasnt the case with my other two dogs when they were puppies...they would stop nipping for a least a few minutes but they were older at the time. is there another technique i could try?

she didn't eat her breakfast and all she wanted to do was either lie down or just sit there looking tired. she hasn't been sneezing- that i know of.
a cold? allergic to somthing in the house?
we did just get a new ppermint airfreshener in our bedroom (not that strong at all) and that is where she sleeps in her bed. We also put these cinnamon pine cones all over the living room- they are kind of strong-
does anyone have any ideas?
(i called her vet- they said to keep an eye on her- that i should giveit a couple of days)

i am a worried mom!

(btw- she is 7yrs old and this has never happened before)

thanks!

My dog is 44 pounds at 6 months. The rescue guessed that he is a German Shepherd/Boxer cross. Most people agree on the Shepherd part. Other suggestions have been pit bull terrier, staffordshire terrier, cattle dog, and Belgian shepherd instead of German. One woman is convinced that he's part Shar Pei. He does have a lot of loose skin around his neck and a lavender/lt. blue splotch on his tongue. He is a feisty guy at the dog park and loves to wrestle (nip at neck and tail) rather than chase. Doesn't care to swim or fetch. His ears were folded as a young puppy and stood up after teething. Very affectionate and intelligent. Potty-trained very early.

I have two cats, but neither one of them like to be held. I try to cuddle with them all the time, but they won't have any of it. It has to be on their terms. Are there any cats who don't mind being held?

I love cats and have 20 acres. I am financially able to take care of them but what will people think. Only 3 come in the house and stay at night. The rest are outside... Will my family and friends think I'm crazy?

This growth it is raised and blue on the outer ring and it gets white in the middle. It's gotten bigger in the last two weeks, and now I've noticed that fish lost his appetite. I've been changing his water biweekly 100%. He is in a flower vase which holds about a gallon of water, no plants just glass pebles and a piece of coral. I've been using filtered water but not using any additives or conditioners for the water. What can this "growth" be and can it be treated? I also take some advice about the kepp of the beta fish. Thanks
