Mother dogs like for their pups to be away from human contact for the first few days after birth, so be careful, or she will bite you, even if she knows your her master/owner. It's just her instincts. You could help by getting a nice blanket to keep the pups warm when they're still young and subject to hypothermia outside.

I have sat in on a few litters being born. I got on the net and did some research so I would kind of know what to expect. I read to have a blue suction bulb (like you would use for a baby), Old towels and blankets, and chicken broth. The mother will do most of the work. The blue bulb is just incase the puppies are having a hard time breathing because of fluids in their mouth or nose. Old towels or blankets because it gets messy! Have a clean spot to move the mother and puppies once she is done delivering all of them. We were told to give warm chicken broth mixed with water to the mother inbetween having the puppies. For the most part stay out of her way and let nature take its course. Just try to keep her as comfortable as possible. The last litter that I sat in on there were 8 puppies. It took about 7 1/2 hours from the first puppy to be born until the last one was born. So be patient. Good Luck with everything!

Get A bed ready with linning, towels.. and (NOT GOOD TOWELS, there will be blood... etc on them from the birth)
So you are gonna need to take the towels out after the birt.
You wont need to help most likely, Both of my dogs thath ad pups for the first time had no problem, Just comfort her... etc.
And you are gonna need heat! alot of heat! the Doctors say keep the room about 90*... yeah Wow! We dint even do that.
I surgest a heat lamp and keeping the room at 70-80*

Leave her alone. Nature will take its course. You may find her digging before the puppies come out. That is totally normal.

Make sure she has a nice comfortable, quiet place to relax...nature will take over and she will know what to do.
