I had used Frontline last year but I am not so sure that K 9 is as good, what is your opinion? Also I have a Maltese and she gets a bath weekly, believe me she needs it.

Frontline always worked well for me...I've had many dogs over the years.
Aren't Malteses the coolest, cutest, little things, or what?!

I don't use either. I use an otc called Bio Spot. I've used it for over 10 years on all my dogs (3) and on all the rescues that I've had in the last 5 yrs. It works!
Also, would not advise giving the Maltese a bath every week. It dries out the skin and can cause the smell to get worse. They only recommend bathing once or twice a month. It could be that the dog needs a better grade of dog food.

In our area (Houston-Galveston metro) we are having a really bad problem with counterfeit Frontline. We have even gotten some from our vet. The last pack eve had an empty vial in it! We are currently using Advantix and Capstar. Capstar kills fleas on the dog almost immediately, so it knocks out the initial infestation and gives relief very soon. I usually prefer Frontline.

Be very careful with over the counter control. It is way more toxic to the pet and yourself than Frontline or Advantix. This info comes straight from the vet so you might want to confirm with yours.

I personally like frontline plus the best, it takes care of the whole lif cycle eggs, pupae and larve. You need to be careful when using advantix if you have cats in the home. If you choose to use advantix apply every three weeksf you bathe your animals alot.

I used Advantix and switched to Frontline. Advantix didn't seem to do very well on ticks, we don't have fleas here just lots and lots of ticks. Frontline worked much better for us.

Frontline Plus (not top spot) works on ticks, Advantage and Advantix do not. Flea -wise they are all essentially the same.

Advantix works better. Frontline seems to quit working sooner than it is supposed to, and doesn't do a good job keeping ticks away at all.

I use Frontline Plus for my Jack Russell (Sadie) and it seems to work good. She never has fleas and we find more dead ticks on her than live ones. We live in a wooded area and have lots of ticks and fleas...just not in the house, thanks to Frontline Plus. Sadie loves running around outside...and she loves sleeping with me a night. I haven't found any ticks or fleas in my bed or my house. You might want to give your dog a bath only once a month. Too many baths and it will dry her skin out and cause her skin to flake which will cause her to itch. If using Frontline Plus give her a bath...put that on and one month later give her another bath and reapply the Frontline. You don't want to wash it off before it has time to take affect. Best of luck!

I have a small dog that we put on Revolution for heartworm and fleas, and even though he is a housedog, litter trained, we still have fleas! He has had at least 3 fleas baths and no change! he had only had 1 dose when we went up north and he was out a lot so I am really hoping that now that he has had a second dose now that will be the end of it. We ordered Program for our 2 cats that hopefully haven't got them (as far as I can tell) they avoid the dog! My husband wants to give him that too but i am afraid it will be too much. I hope you solve your problem faster than I am. Good Luck, your not alone, lol
